Hi there, Over the past year I have been playing A LOT of badminton (20-35 hours a week) with players of all levels, lately with a B level provincial player. He tells me I would do well in C level provincials so now I want to know how on earth do I start playing provincial tournaments and not just open civils? I am 22 and in a University that doesn't have a team. Looking to join men's doubles. If anyone has some insight as to how to get the ball rolling that would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Does not Badminton Quebec list tournaments and clubs on its website? ... http://www.badmintonquebec.com/ ... Looks like the next ABC is in Sherbrooke. http://www.badmintonquebec.com/2013-2014-abc-no-6-sherbrooke-5444 (disclaimer: i'm not from PQ, nor good with french, so forgive me if this info is relevant to your OP)
The only ABC I can see is the Yonex/sports expert circuit, which there is no point to join mid way through... :S All tournament applications forms have a field for which club you are from, I'm not sure if I can leave that blank. I will call them up before the next ABC while they take in applications and see how/if I can join. If anyone else has some more info on this please feel free to share!
The only provincial players I know and play with all did tournaments through clubs. Mainly Club Badminton Lachine, the coach would take care of most of it he told me :S
I play at downtown YMCA, China Town YMCA, Concordia university, Dawson college and MontrealBadmintonClub. I will be at the ymca tonight 9:10-10:45pm playing with 3 other B level players. I attended a few open civils and that's it, nothing regional or provincial.
