What's with the "mad" look on the posting?

I am trying to make the Sunday (7th) if there is enough interest for that night.

That's always has been the trend for the Sunday night crowd. They are not social folks (eh, Viver?) and you would think that the fun night actually give them a good opportunity to play 3 to 5 very good, evenly matched games.

I guessed some folks are wanted to win against the weaker players and not willing to put their reputation on the line against evenly matched players. hahah...

Bluejeff, yep, we Canadians are out for the food and drinks. The fun nights at RBC are usually subsidized by the club from the monies collected through membership and drop-in fees. Good deal if you think about it as the CAD$10 includes dinner plus all the feather shuttles that you use in the games.

Those folks that want to pick on weaker folks can go into the weaker catalogry and win there.HA, but this year, I heard the Sunday crowd is very small so it will be hard to put up a tourney unless the folks from the other night joins too.

Where is dinner going to be at? Hmm..I wonder, was last year at Honlalulu and we could order any one dish we want?

There always some 'competitive' players everywhere. WWC you know me, I am there for a some exercise:) and winning wasn't always the highest priority. Lately on Sunday nights you may be able to play 7-10 matches, singles is also a possibility.

Fun night should be interesting but I think I would opt out. I prefer to stay away from these fun nights, specially doubles.

I think the prize for the winners and runner ups are trophys. You actually have to partner different people every game and they accumlate the scores and top 4 people with highest scores play finals. Not sure how to explain it, I think WWC can do a better job explaining.

    Sign up for Sunday evening

From what I hearing. The Sunday fun night is not really that full yet.

The format is basically that you get grouped into groups of four/five (roughly all at the same level) and you compete in a round-robin format where you partner up with each player in your group for each game (i.e. at the end of the round-robin, you would have partnered up with each of the other 3 or 4 players once). Total scores of all games determine the order. Top 2 scorers from each group goes into the final and play (with #1 from Group A partnering up with #2 from Group B against #1 from Group B who is partnered up with #2 from Group A).

Past years, the winners and finalists got prizes (bottles of wine, etc.) but I think the last couple of years, they have been giving out trophies.

After the games, we all head out to a pre-determined restuarant to eat and drink (included in the entry fee).

It's for members only though. Last time I heard, there's a long waiting list for RBC membership, so don't get your hopes too high:(.

Hey Timeless, thanks for volunteering for my partner. I love to have you as my partner since I have THE 'killer' on my side. But apparently this tournament is for members only. I'll wait for the next opportunity.

When I signed up for the tournament...there is members($5) and non-members($10) listed so I presume that non-members can join as well. As of today(Tues) non of the nights are really fill..tons of spots left..esp Sunday...they might not even cancel the Sunday night because there is only 3 ppl playing so far. If you want to sign up, go drop by the RBC during any of the three nights(Tues/Thurs/Sun) 6:30pm-9:45pm. I cannot sign up for any of you because you have to pay when you sign up. I believe the deadline is this Sunday.
