# Thread: String tension and weight

1. ## String tension and weight

Hello!

I'm curious to know if string tension affects the weight of a racket.

2. I honestly believe there wouldn't be much of a difference if you mean higher tension equals more stretch and less string in the racket, resulting in less string weight?

3. I meant the actual weight of the racket, but I didn't consider the fact that a string with high tension has less string weight.

Thank you mater!

string is string, and racket weight is racket weight, they are separate items. i can put 0lbs or 40lbs on the string and the racket itself will still weigh the same.

am i missing something?

No, now I understand the differences. I just thought that if I string my racket at a lower tension then the swing would be lighter.

6. String tension doesn't affect swing wt. But string thickness will...

7. Can you tell the difference of different strings by swinging the racket?
I would doubt that...
