Boonsak Ponsana is having a very good period at the moment!
I'm only half surprised he won against Chen Hong.

 

I am very very very disappointed with Chen Hong.

If I was LiYongBo, I would not send ChenHong to Athens.

Many times, Chen Hong always disappointed our hope in the pivotal matches, But he never say sorry, and he always could find much excuse for his defeat.

 

Sorry seven...hahahahaha.

Anyway, close one between Japan and Singapore. China should take it from here after the initial scare, but cannot write off the thais yet, they always surprise.

Big fight left to take the last place for Thomas Cup: Singapore, India, Taiwan and Hong Kong and possibly Thailand.

Hong Kong, Thailand or Singapore are my best bets.

Yes, should not penalise Chen Hong for one loss. Chen has done for China a great deal already, cannot expect him to be at the top forever.

Looks like the Thais came prepared. They deserve the last place to Jakarta.

They could have beaten other strong teams apart from China.

 

If Singapore hadn't dropped the indonesian born twins they might have had a better chance. And what of Indra Wijaya?

Sang and Zheng did alright too, that pair can be pretty good at times.

I think Lin Dan losing a game to thiraya ? is a worse result than Chen hong losing to Boonsak. Boonsak, is alreay a Champion this year.

I think Chen hong is very good for winning long tournamentsbecause he is very fit.

Unable to play brilliantly in one-off matches in Thomas Cup or Sudirman.

Wont be surprised if he doesnt play in actual finals.

 

I think Singapore quite rightly is using this TC to expose our local boys to prepare for subsequent team and individual events. The stated objective of the SBA is to enter the final rounds of the TC in 2012, I think. So the fact that our local lads put up quite a good showing in the singles is a good sign.

Ronald is a Singapore Citizen now and his future is with S'pore. I think the Indonesian twins were PRs (Permanent Residents) and because they were unfit, they were dropped from the national team and could have returned to Indonesia. But the team still relies alot in Ronald who has contributed two points in this TC, one in first singles and the other, surprising in second doubles. So he has redeemed himself somewhat for his recent poor outings.

Regarding Indra, as you may know he is the elder brother of Candra and is pretty old for a singles player. At the last S'pore Satellite tournament, he was defeated by the young, up-and-coming Simon Santoso.

As I have said, the coaches must have considered the form and performance of the players in training and with the TC Finals goal in 2012, I think they did the right thing to expose our young players.

Although S'pore still has a chance to enter the final rounds, I will be surprised if they did as Hong Kong and Thailand are the favourites.
