Someone posted before that Chinese and Korean always going all out in German Open and not All England. Maybe CBA just notices that and now they forbid the Chinese player to play in German Open in order to go out all in All England.

    ;)

If I understand correctly, no CHN squad here due to their 28-day winter training which starts in Feb, a bit later than usual because of the KOR SS and the MAS SSP in Jan which was compulsory attendance for their top players.

Last year's winter training was a 35-day period starting sometime in Jan'13 and crossed over the Lunar New Year break to Feb'13. In fact, the whole national team was given a 9-day break last year when all of them were allowed to return to their respective hometowns to celebrate the Spring Festival(Lunar New Year) and it actually disrupted the training.

This year's 28-day training is continuous, therefore, better; however,it overlaps the GER Open GPG which starts 25th Feb, hence no participation from CHN.

Btw, Lin Dan has said he would be playing at the Swiss Open GPG and the MAS GPG in Mar followed by the BAC in April. His current ranking of 100+ doesn't qualify him for any SS/SSP.

it's me. based on previous trend. ;)

but my original statement is :

China players never going all out in AE.
I never say China players going all out in German.
    that is different.

bcoz of winter training, China choose to absent from German.
and wait until 2-3 weeks from now if China absent in Swiss as well, waiting for Swiss GP entry list...so we can say this year, CBA going all out in AE

however, Korea still send their "A" team to this event

    AlanY/JustinL,
Do you know what if one of CHN MS withdraw from 2014AE SSP, can CHN substitute LD in? Or there is absolutely no way LD can play AE this year?

How disappointing! I was expecting to watch the Chinese Team again. They used to come every year. :(

Good guess but probably not it.

The first round of CBSL play-off will be on Thursday, Feb 20, instead of a more natural Saturday, Feb 22. The reason for that is presumably making time for German Open. With many national team players in the CBSL play-off, their training schedule should get them ready by Feb 20, for the CBSL play-off and the following German Open.

You would think that CBA would register the full team and maybe withdraw those participating the CBSL Play-off. Not a single player showing up is a head scratcher.

It seems like Saina is going to many GPG tournaments nowadays.. Good comeback strategy for gaining confidence. She does not have pressure now. She is not top seeded player there. I don't know why Rituparna das and Ruthvika shivani are not in the list.

Saina and PV Sindhu don't play in German open GPG.

well, at least one thing to be looking forward to the malaysian MD pair who just won the SSP title in malaysia. Can they still be that arrogant? well, GO is a full level below malaysian open, but the malaysian pair are blessed with good fortune and home advantage. so GO certainly can still mean a good challenge for them, particularly when they are 6 better ranking pairs ahead of them.

So Swiss entry list is out, and most likely China will clean sweep All England titles this year.

i'm not so sure about that.
as MAS also has a title contender, in Goh/Lim.

I'm not sure whether you're using Goh/Lim as a joke or not, although I still highly doubt CHN can win MD even with the two Korean pairs out.
