So recently I've been asked by a friend to source out a shuttlecock that is ~$14. I couldn't think of any and the first that came to mind was Hang Yu Tournament No. 2. Any other suggestions that I can either ship or get locally in Vancouver, BC? I know a supplier here sells Hang Yu, but I'm looking for alternatives.
The problem with cheaper shuttles is that they have crummy feel and more importantly, they never last as long. In the end, the overall cost savings may not be that much. In that respect, the Hang Yu #1 is at a very nice sweet spot between affordability, playability, and durability. That's why they're so popular, at least in Vancouver.
Where can I buy those? And at visor, yes I know, my friends play HY as well. I know the supplier and can get pretty cheap prices from them. I personally place Victor shuttles though. I have a supplier in HK that I know and I usually go back twice a year, so I can bring back as many as I want. But my friend is in Vancouver, and he wants a cheaper shuttle. There are many reasons to want a cheaper shuttle. I know the people he plays with aren't so good but can be powerful. In that sense, it's better that he plays with cheaper shuttles because: 1. They potentially hit and smack the skirt / mishit. Causing even good birds to break easily. 2. Because of reason #1, it actually is more economical to use cheaper shuttles than consistently break nice ones too often due to others. 3. Using cheaper shuttles also cause others to feel worst about consistently breaking your shuttles and take out their own, especially if you're using like 2 every time, and it's not cause the shuttle breaks fast (partly) but because they're mishitting so often. and 4th, is my own reason for buying cheaper shuttles... it's basically the same as #1. I use cheaper shuttles for games where I feel like the level is lower, and not worthy of taking something like an AS50 out to play with.
Hmm. Their speed is too slow. They only carry speed 76. I have, however, looked at YOUHE before. I don't recall what for. I looked at it before at the same time I looked at Chao Pai shuttles.
I've never tried so I can't give an opinion. But I recall Hang Yu had a weird flight. I still stick with Victor Shuttles though. No other suggestions?
Where are you buying your Hang Yu #1? Are you buying them in bulk? If so, how much? How does the Hang Yu #1 compare to the Victor Champion #1?
My organizer does. From Helen. Everyone buys it from her lol. $18.50 per tube iirc , in bulk of 50 tubes.
Yes, we in Vancouver are fortunate that we're closer to the Pacific Rim, so shipping is cheaper and competition is fiercer.
