After reading kwun's review on Gosen R4X 110, I have interest to try this string. However, I have tried Gosen inspire but finding that the string turned dull pretty quickly. As such, I have been using Bg80. Does it perform similar to Bg80?

while the R4X Momone and R4X 110 were excellent strings, the INSPIRE was slightly disappointing. i have a review of the Inspire too, stay tuned.

so yes, i'd suggest you try out the 110.

It's an excellent string. In fact, in terms of feel I'd put it above BG80 - really metallic with a higher-than-expected ping.

I feel the R4X 110 gives the durability of BG80 with the feel of BG85. The best of both worlds. Awesome!

Even better, you can get it on the reel and it's MILES cheaper than BG80 and BG85:D

Nah. R4X 110 last much shorter than bg80 I am afraid.

On a related note, is it a trend in Gosen's Brand to not be as durable as Yonex, for example? I was thinking about trying this brand out for a possible replacement for BG80/BG66UM. I am looking for a powerful string with good feel at the net, for spinning net drops. I was going to go for ZM67, but is there a performance advantage to Gosen's R4X 110? Sorry, I have never played with either BG80 or BG85, but my MD partner likes it.

Zymax string have different feel than most other strings. Personally I prefer ZM62 and ZM65 over ZM67 and 70 (crisper feel, better repulsion and sound at cost of reduced durability).

I wouldn't say brand A is more durable than brand B, it all comes down to specific model. but if durability is what you want, go for Polyfibre Flextra P4 or Zymax 70. you won't be disappointed. :D

Just ordered my reel, so I should be able to report on it long-term shortly (if that makes sense).

Against BG80, though, it wins hands down - I'm using one now that's been in for two weeks, and it's lost less tension than a BG80 that's been in one week.

I have just received 5x packs from MBS on the strength of your evaluation Mark A, I too will give it a go and see what it plays like. As you say, it is very cheap, and worth a try.

Oh my. Comparisons to BG80, BG66UM, and zym67 are appreciated. Have fun! :)

I can compare it to BG80 right now: the Gosen sounds better, hits harder, has brighter feel and keeps tension longer.

    And it's cheaper.

I can never comment on longevity, so I leave this to others:) I never break anything, but at 30/31 they lose their flavour very quickly, so I end up chewing through them just as fast as if I were breaking them.
