This is going to be so interesting. You just never get a chance to see the top singles players really duking it out with the top doubles players. It's just such a different game with different strategies and skill sets that it's hard for players to play both successfully.

You look at Tennis, the top teams in doubles are upset all the time by scratch pairings of two random singles players who teamed up at a tournament for the hell of it. You don't see that in badminton at all. It speaks to the depth and the difference between singles and doubles in badminton versus tennis.

I wonder who will be the front man and who will take the back =).

Lin Dan has been pretty tame. Lee Chong Wei has been the one pulling out some great smashes far.

obviously Fu/Cai not playing all out, but at this level, LD/LCW are doing pretty well

Could not see any of his matches in Lingsui. Base on what I observed in the Indian GPG his coach may be adopting a new style of play for him, one of patient rallying and accurate placing to out manoeuvre his opponent to create smashing opportunities in contrast to the speedy- attack style we saw in Australia and NZ last year. My 2-cent is that he is still trying to adapt to the new style.

LD and LCW split, now new games start at 0-0 with LD/FHF n LCW/CaiYun, much more interesting.

got this from Edwin Leung's facebook page:

Sorry Chi-Taipei fans, your seed no 2 Barry HuangPo Jui / Ching Yao Lu lost to unseeded China's Gen Li / Cheng Liu 14-21 21-14 21-19 http://tournamentsoftware.com/sport/...69B4&match=133

The Taipei pair was always leading in the 3rd deciding set !! But it seems they got hard luck and suffered from few critical mis-judgement** ....cos after the match finished, i saw the Taipei coach approached the services judge to express something ...(need to clarify that later, cos i can only interview the winners at the mix zone)

** I talked to the Team Manager Hunter Jaw...he told me in the 3rd set after 13-13, the service judge gave a total of 5 services fault to the Taipei at the critical moment!! totally unfair....while none fault given to China especially they observed their services much more higher then the waist !! He observed that the winner china pair both feel embrassed for their "Victory"........and one of them later apporached the Taipei pair to "apologise" !!

I admit, the match wasn't as exciting as I was hoping it to be. Fairly lack luster in the rallies played, though it is an exhibition and perhaps they don't want to injure themselves. Lin Dan I think by far lacked energy out there, LCW was doing his part to spice things up.

yeah. it doesn't look like they planned it that well. if they had said, "let's make it fun and silly", there is enough firepower and potential humor in there to make it a match of epic proportion.

It sucked, big time. I only watch part of 1st set after they split up the teams.

I'd seen LCW played XD. He's actually pretty good. From this match, it looks like LD might not know how to play Doubles at all.

The one who impressed me in this tournament is Ka Long Ng. He is improving fastly it seems. Hope to see him in future in many tournaments. Good luck to him..

Yes, he definitely was not in form. His smashes had no power. He stood there most of the time and made LCW cover for him. He is definitely not a good MD player.
