Late forehands. An essential shot in singles but never seems to be spoken about. Without this shot covering court can become very difficult.
The general pattern seems to be
Lunge with racket foot into rear court.
    Prepare by supinating forearm.
    Then play a shot:
    A straight clear
    A straight drop or drive
or a cross court shot which is hit with slice seems easiest.

Is this shot taught and drilled much?

    Any hints or tips?

actually this is one shot that i have been struggling with a lot back then and a bit even now. when i had a coach the only drill was that he would keep hitting it deep in my forehand and just have me retrieve it late. tho my form is more or less correct, he said that i just don't have the strength in the forearm to reach and clear to opponent's baseline like that of Lin Dan.

and obviously, he also mentioned that the key is to get to it early.

Interesting gundamzaku but female players can hit them. As long as your not too late isn't it just like backhand and forehand clears a case of correct technique and lots and lots of practice to get the timing.
I'm the same I just hit to front 2 corners which is still much better than jumping out to intercept which leaves me badly out of position.

the cross court isn't hit with much slice tbh.

Obviously it's only taught to singles players because its virtually never seen in doubles.

Tai TzuYing does this shot the best... clearing crosscourt baseline to baseline on a late forehand.

sorry sir, i need to clarify that being too late as in you're on a full stretch lunging backward on your forehead with your arm straight out, that's what i meant by "too late". :p
