Wow! That's a lot of badminton entertainment, senior and junior, for the next three weeks.

Yeah, the spreadsheet file for players' list is wrongly titled Yonex Dutch Junior.

Very happy to see, CHN is represented by their top BS and GS but none in doubles, namely, BS Shi Yuqi, Zhao Junpeng,Lin Guipu and GS He Bingjiao, Qin Jinjing, Chen Yufei. Their remaining BS Sun Feixiang, Ye Binghong and Zhou Zeqi and GS Chen Xiaoxin may individually spring a surprise too.

YONEX German Junior 2014 – entries delight

The 31[SUP]st[/SUP] International Junior Badminton Championships of Germany are going to take place at the Sportforum Berlin under the patronage of Manfred Freiherr von Richthofen, honorary president of the German Olympic Sports Confederation on 6-9 March 2014.

Hosting club and organizer SG EBT Berlin proudly announces a new entry record. About 180 players from 27 countries have confirmed their participation. With this result more countries than ever will play the German Junior. Highlight of the entry result is the participation of China, for the first time in Berlin. In addition to that now players from four continents will go for the titles, with Zambia an African country will enter the stage for the first time.

The following nations have entered: Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, China, Croatia, Denmark, England, Estonia, Hong Kong China, India, Indonesia, Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Netherlands, Pakistan, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Singapore, Slovenia, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Zambia and Germany.

“We are very happy about the excellent entry result. Again you can find many of the leading European badminton nations but it is the Asian countries that prove the worldwide reputation of the YONEX German Junior. With no doubt we can claim that the badminton youth of the world will visit Berlin”, states a delighted Manfred Kehrberg, head of EBT badminton division. “I am very certain that the playing level will be as outstanding as the last years, maybe even better. Resulting from that it means for us the obligation to present a top organized event”, he adds.

Almost as a tradition the tournament offers the best young players from Asia and Europe the opportunity to compete. Particularly with regard to the worlds youth championships taking place in Malaysia in mid-April the YONEX German Junior could produce first tendencies for the badminton elite.

The YONEX German Junior 2014 start with the first rounds on Thursday, 6 March 2014 and Friday, 7 March 2014 at 9 a.m. Quarter and semifinals will be played on Saturday, 8 March 2014 from 9 a.m. on. Highlight of the tournament will be the finals on Sunday, 9 March 2014 starting at 10 a.m and the concluding presentation ceremonies.

For more information the YONEX German Junior will offer a broad media coverage. Besides the website www.german-junior.de and the Facebook performance www.facebook.com/GermanJunior Badminton German Junior TV will broadcast. Interviews, stories and re-live matches can be watched at all times at www.german-junior.tv and on the youtube channel of SG EBT Berlin www.youtube.com/ebtberlin.

I think CBA wants to give its junior singles players some exposure playing against their European counterparts in view of the coming WJC. It (CBA) may be confident with the abilities of its double players. I saw HBJ's name but she is not playing in the Dutch Junior. Is she with the team in Europe or has she gone home to China to rest after the Asian Junior? I (just guessing) think she may be sick during the individual stage of the Asian Junior. Wang Xingyuan is not with the team in Europe. Is she going to be replaced by one of Chen Xiaoxin, Chen Mingchun and Zhang Yiman in the WJC? IMO Ji Shuting should be given a chance in Europe too.

Lin Guipu should be the one to watch out at the upcoming WJC. He beat the current AJC champion Shi Yuqi in the Dutch Junior and German Junior, and eventually he crowns two titles in Europe.

Lin Guipu beat Zhao Junpeng in the BS Final of the Dutch Junior on 2nd Mar'14 and then beat MAS Cheam June Wei in the BS Final of the German Junior on 9th Mar'14 after overcoming AJC'14 Shi Yuqi in the semifinal. Two junior titles to Lin Guipu in two weeks, he looks good for the coming WJC in April.
