I think the reason why this is a dead forum cause most people don't have access to all the recent matches that are being played.

Peter G is going to do some analysis of his opponents. That should be interesting. Which opponent is Cooler?

    thanks for asking, cheung.
I have many opponents, some of them even claim themselves to be master, smart and swift. Several of them even named after Wins as Global Win. (Hey Wins, it sure sound better than Nike Air, ) Check them out over here: <http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/01q2/010521/cooler-34.html>

Seriouly, the places i go people mostly want to play doubles. SIngles games come along few in between. Even that, the would be opponents just wanted to play 1 game. Very frustrating when i want to improve. I'm not at a level that i'm happy with yet. On the positive note, thru BC, i got an invite from Happy Guy to play with some eager younger players. I hope i could keep up with those city school champs, if not, at least it would give me the motivation to work on my weakness(es). Oh, you want to know some of my weakness(es) from my opponent's analysis? Maybe i'll you know later. I have to play them first. Nice try :)

Unfortunate that I never get the chance to go to Calgary.(

As you know, I play mainly singles at present. After playing in a few tournaments, I realise there is a hard core group of singles players. Every so often, the group rings up another of the group to have a few games of singles. One of the first experiences of this was playing the owner of Luxis. After talking to him, he asked me for a game. OK, a few days later at 8am in the morning in the sports centre, I am asking myself "have I gone mad?". Esp as our session is scheduled for two hours (only two of us). Now I regard two hours as normal.

The places to be tested are the non aircon places - over 25 degress celcius with humidity above 80 (90?) %.

Can last most of the way thanks to Brett's pre-exercise hydration advice.

Well, calgary climate is quite different. AC is not commonly used because facilities's temperature rarely deviate much between 20-25 deg. C, and it is dry here. Even at 32 deg C (got this hot for a couple of days in August), normal person shouldn't perspire until he/she start exercising, and would dry out pretty quick.

You might find your shot goes further with less effort as the shuttle used are lighter (73-75). If one is lucky enough, the best games for me are with someone at or slightly better than me.

With the new 7x5 system, i think the smashing side of singles become much more important now, where 'seizing the moment now' has an edge over 'wear them down' tactics. I saw that employed effectively last weekend's Cdn Junior Int'l, all U16, U19 and U23 singles finalists were chineses and they were (jump) smashing a lot. Check out these MS scores:

    Finals - U16 Division
    Men’s Singles – Gong, Wei Jie, CH-X d. Graeme Harding, CAN 7-1, 7-2, 7-2.
    Finals - U19 Division
    Men’s Singles – Guo, Zhen Dong, CH-X d. Mathieu Laforest, CAN 7-3, 7-4, 7-3.
    Finals - U23 Division
    Men’s Singles – Feng, Cai Yi, CH-X d. Sam Smith, CAN 7-2, 7-2, 7-3.

Feng was smashing so ferociously that his games look like doubles.
Feng is about 5'9" and sam smith is about 6'3"

    So, i hope u like smashing :)

That is more of my natural game, but one has to be in the right position to be on balance.
