I hope this will be some sort of wakeup call and will bring forth positive change.

"The London Grand Prix is unable to attract any Government investment to cover or even subsidise the significant costs of staging the event and having considered the demands onBADMINTON England's own resources against a number of other high priority investments they have to make. Badminton England have reluctantly decided that delivering the event here on in will prove to be financially unviable and place other key projects at risk."

Why not downgrade it to an IC event? I guess adidas will have to look for another tournament to sponsor.

That's really too bad. I hope Badminton England will do better in the future.

Unfortunately this is the normal in England, most ' minor' sports get very little funding. You constantly hear horror stories of people who have to fund themselves even when representing their country. Unless it's football, cricket, rugby or tennis you better have deep pockets (national governing bodies included).

Tennis is terrible. There seems to be be a lot of money going into the game that doesn't translate into international success.

    Same with football.

Since that time of announcement, no further news from adidas doing a tournament.
