Hi guys Ive decided to take my badminton to the next level by buying a new racket and basically I have been told to buy a fake racket as they are no different from the genuine ones, is this true or have i been given the wrong information? for example ive been told this is a good racket to buy http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Y-O-N..._Sporting_Goods_Badminton&hash=item35d1954588 TIA bizzyfingers
Never buy a fake racket. You do not know what material is being used and have no guarantee on the quality of the product. The fake will never play like the original.
Simply put, no. A fake generally is never as good as a the genuine counterpart. If fakes were just as good, why would the real rackets cost so much more?
I always suggest others to buy genuine. When you guy genuine, a real company stands behind it. When you buy fakes, you never know what you are getting because there's no incentive for the copycat to stand behind it. I always find it funny when people say they have a Yonex so and so and admit themselves it's a clone. They really believe they have a Yonex model at a fraction of the price. I remind them and say it's just painted like a particular model, there's no incentive to have similar material/spec when the fake gets none of the credit. When one buys fakes, it creates more opportunity for fakes to further exist. Then when you buy genuine only to find out you were tricked, you have no one to blame except yourself. Honestly, if you can spend only a certain amount of money, look for a genuine product in that budget. No one will see "Yonex" and think you are a great player but I guarantee with proper skills, you can impress more people with a non Yonex racket.
Oh, also when I string, I always will say, I won't string high tensions because your racket is fake. The risk is too high for me as a stringer to be accused of breaking someone's so called top of the line "Yonex".
Thanks youve confirmed exactly what i was thinking. What racket do you recommend for £50 british pounds or less as im on a budget.
Best value for £50 or less: Sportsdirect.com - Carlton Vapour Trail Elite £49.99 (very stiff, head heavy, heavy overall weight) Carlton Kinesis £45 (medium, even balance, average weight - good all-rounder) Carlton Vapour Trail Pure £50 (medium, head heavy, slightly lower than avg weight) Directbadminton.co.uk - Yonex Nanoray 60 £49.29 (med-stiff, head heavy, avg weight) Yonex Voltric 5 £49.00 (medium, head heavy, heavy wt) Just over £50: Yonex Voltric 7 £56 (med-stiff, head heavy, avg weight)
Never, ever buy a fake racket. Sure it's cheaper than the original, but you won't get the maximum satisfaction when using it. I once used a fake/clone F9 belonging to my friend - my God, the vibration was really bad, and the smashes is just "pitiful". Never touched it after that.... and so did my friend.
Yeah, as others have said fake racket manufacturers will have no accountability over quality, so it's a bit of a lottery for what you're getting. For best bang for buck, the older Carlton rackets at sportdirect are good. I would also look at the ashaway range at either directsports or centralsports.
Never buy a fake !!!!!! The quality is like buying a racket from a toystore for children. Forget it and take a original.
