Hello All, I've been playing for 15+ years (on-&-off) and consider myself an intermediate offensive player. I was using Yonex Armotec 250 which I liked- powerful smashes and deep returns. But now I need to get a new racket. I believe Armotec series is replaced by Voltric series, but I couldnt understand their numbering convention. Also, I saw a "Voltric Alpha" online, which looks promising (and seems similar to Armotec 250). But, I couldnt find any reviews/info about it and its not even listed on yonex.com website which makes me suspicious. So, I'll really appreciate any suggestions to replace Armotec 250, or something alike for smashes and deep returns. FYI- I live on the east coast of US & looking to spend around $120-$150.
Thanks Exert, Yes, I'm sure AT900p must be a great racket. But based on its reviews, I feel myself to be less competent to use it. My skill level is intermediate at best, and people seem to recommend it for expert players. I wish the racket could up my game- but I know it wont
No :0 lots of people use at 900P , you shouldn't always look at reviews you should try racquets first. My last recommendation would be a Voltric 70 or Voltric 80 a little over your budget.
If you're willing to look at other brands, you can find some great rackets. One brand that is very trusted here is Apacs. I've tried a few of their rackets and found them very solid (Tantrum 200 and Lethal 70). Another brand that has my vote is the Panda Power line of rackets. The great thing about them is that you can basically specify what weight and balance you want. They're also very affordable at $125-$165 from my knowledge. I currently own 4 of the Panda Power rackets and they get better with each progressive generation/model.
I reading more, I found Voltric-5 to be something I'd like- head heavy & 3U. However, I cant seem to find it for sale. Is it discontinued? Any replacement for it?
Thanks for the suggestions guys! Voltric-5 is discontinued and hard-to-get, so its automatically out. Voltric 50 seems new, less reviews, and more expensive. I really wanted to like Voltric-9, but going by Paul Stewart's review and others, it doesnt look promising. So, I guess Voltric-7 is my best option- more by theory of elimination . I really wanted a 3U (which was my only gripe against Voltric-7), but I've never tried a 4U- so, I guess, I'll give it a shot.
