The Quarterfinal round will kick off on 5.00pm, using 3 courts.

MS, Tago v Shon WH. Both players are resilient, hardworker and long endurance type so we can expect three games of this tie.
Lee CW v Momota, the very promising youngster will learn something from vast experienced and one of MS current best.

WS, four encounters are really interesting
Li XR v Sung JH, after two tough matches and lucky escape, it seems the Olympic Champion is struggling, she's not at her best. Possibly upset here?
Intanon v Li, what a breakthrough for the Canadian player to be one of 8 quarterfinalists. Michelle is new face while other 7 are regular names that we often see at this stage.
Nehwal v Wang SX, repeat of last year QF when CHN WS only represented by Wang SX in this stage. Let's see whether Wang SX will take revenge over her losing here at same venue.
Bae YJ v Wang YH, the world #2 looks on fire and hard task for Bae to stop former AE champion this time.

MD, three INA pairs plus one each from CHN, JPN, KOR, MAS, TPE. Ahsan/Setiawan will chase the elusive AE title and they will face CHN new combo Fu HF/Zhang N today, the world champion has advantage to enter semifinal.

WD, Kakiiwa/Maeda made sensational victory last night to stop winning streak record of Bao YX/Tang JH. Olympic Champ + World Champ and new scratch pair Ma J/Tang YT who disposed second seed Juhl/Pedersen yesterday will keep China dominance in this category.

XD, Zhang/Zhao will get tough resistance from home fave The Adcocks. Other two title contenders Xu/Ma and defending champion Ahmad/Natsir are favoured to prevail.

    LIVE TV coverage (court 1, 05.00pm) :

    01) Gideon Markus Fernaldi/Markis Kido (INA) v Hoon Thien How/Tan Wee Kiong (MAS)
    02) Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei (CHN) v Chris Adcock/Gabrielle Adcock (ENG)
    03) Saina Nehwal (IND) v Wang Shixian (CHN)
    04) Ko Sung Hyun/Kim Ha Na (KOR) v Mads Pieler Kolding/Kamilla Rytter Juhl (DEN)
    05) Son Wan Ho (KOR) v Kenichi Tago (JPN)

    WS had many 3-gamers yesterday

The WS challenge was perhaps the hottest with five out of eight matches going into the rubber and lasting an hour or more yesterday:

And who do you think will make it to the SF?

    My pick:

All the three ladies from China and Thailand's May.:D

They should be because they are seeded 1,2,3 & 4. ;)

Michelle Li is the unseeded outsider while the remaining are seeded 5, 6 & 7. Almost a perfect seeding but kudos to Michelle for going this far.

I'm predicting SJH, both Wangs, and May. LXR has had two three-setters and had to scrape past both opponents, she doesn't appear too in-form.

Luckily it's only 2 ladies. Don't think your eyes are able to handle 4.

The All England crowd are definitely getting their money's worth with the ladies singles.

Only comment on one match. And that is I hope Michelle Li gets a win. It's going to be tough but she's spent a lot of time on court and should know the court conditions very, very well. Physically, I don't think she has quite the change of pace that some other players have. Secondly, I don't get the vibes that she has that belief that she can do it from seeing her play before.

    Still hope she wins though.

I think you nailed it there... self belief. And I think she's more of a soft player and trails the others by miles in experience.

Not trying to be picky, Wang Yihan's nickname in Mandarin is actually 'Kitten' to imply cuteness, adorability though it has more to do with WYH's feline features - a cat being older and bigger than a kitten would be too but a little less so, I guess.:)

I think by calling her "the cat" is actually empowering her. Think a lioness stalking her prey. That's how I see her

You mean, like a certain Clive Lloyd? :)

Actually I think of WYH as the praying mantis. Always reminds me of that when she prepares to receive serve! :D

You have a point there (though in CHN they nicknamed her 'kitten').

Whatever she is nicknamed, I think we all agree she is looking good and ready to devour her opponents

Really disappointed with the TV court matches.

Wonder if Li Xuerui will drop a game again today
