The Talon Guard worries me as well - I had the 8600 for all of one game before dinging them. Utter agony.

Really? I never tried the 8600 before. But the 8500 has the exact same talon guard and it has never given me any problem before o.o

I've not had any problems with the talon guard myself, I did however notice the top laces digging into my foot more than my Yonex shoes. I like to have my laces really tight near the top to stop my foot sliding forward and bruising my big toe which is fine with my Yonex shoes as the cushion on the tongue is better but the SHLYD has a thinner tongue.

I've also noticed that I've scuffed the inside of my left shoe a little, something I haven't had in my Yonex shoes which is probably because there is less protection from the edge of the sole on these.

Aside from that they are very comfortable and light. I am getting used to the bright pink and have had a few comments from people who haven't seen them before.

I have the problem Mark stated from my 8500 if I try and tie it really tight. Kind of like Wolverine slicing into me.

I had the 8600 and the talon guard didn't bother me at all. However, we all have our personal tastes and it's part of the game.

I wonder if Victor would bring some LYD-G next year in UK 9 if I asked very nicely... I'd need something to wear around the flat if I go again.

Ko's still running 8500 E as far as I know... the Victor liaison asked us for a spare pair for him.

Yeah, right - the UK never saw the 8500 in any colour!

^What are they? Custom colourway of an existing shoe?

Possible new thread if you can figure it out.

We'll probably see them at the WC.

Along with the Harry Potter shorts.

In the words of Philip Fry,

LYD shoe arrives in Europe next week.

Central Sports will be selling the pink version but I've no idea if any retailer is taking the green. Supplies will be limited as this is a potential one shot order.

The orange shoe in the picture looks really nice. It looks great in all three colourways.

If Central take the pink, Direct will take the green and crush them.

LYD's personal preference won't carry as much weight here as it does in Asia, and I reckon the green would win here in a straight colour contest.

I agree but I still consider the UK is not ready for coloured footwear compared to other countries. Strange really as we see so much colour with football boots. However the badminton crowd is a little more traditional.

I made the transition to coloured shoes this year and it doesn't bother me now. That said, the pink LYD is pushing the boat a bit too far!
