the very first BC/BF contest! ok. i think this will be fun to do. All England 2004 will be happening next week, let's see who can guess who the winners are! Prizes winners will get a BC T-shirt, in size of their choosing, shipped. (as i have so many of them now... ) How to enter here is how the contest will work: send me a PM with the following: the winner and runner-up of each of the 5 event finals (ie. i want to see 10 names) in the following format: MS - Peter Gade beatt Chen Hong WS - Pi beat Mia MD - ... WD - ... XD - ... and then when the results comes up, i will do a calculation of how close each entry gets. 2 pts for guessing the winner correctly, 1 pt for guessing the runner-up correctly. the entry who gets the most points will win the T-shirt! deadline will be 1am PST Tuesday March 9th. all entries time stamped after that date will be disqualified... incomplete entries will be disqualified small prints : administrator and moderators (and future and present relatives) of BC/BF are ineligible. professional players participating in the AE are ineligible (sorry JR/TL ). only one entry per member.
So, are we entering our guesses for all five finals or just MS and WS as you have shown? MS MD WS WD XD
Kwun, it's going to be a huge list of people (in 5 areas) Maybe you want to do it starting from the final 16? (starting from qual. is a long long way)
I wish I was more into the international scene. Good luck everybody! MS: Hafiz Hashim ... hahahahhahahhahaha ... flash in the pan? -dave
oh oh oh, I thought I have to submit EACH game starting from the qualifyings.... Sure, 10 names is easy I am in for sure.
ok. i have modified the instructions. i guess technically, it is 16 names for the doubles pairs, but i think that should be pretty clear.
Scoring system #2 A little bit question regarding to the "scoring system". Say, the correct entry should be A bt B, according to this scoring system, the possible result will be: 1. Ans: A bt B: 3 2. Ans: A bt C: 2 3. Ans: C bt B: 1 4. Ans: B bt A: 0??? 5. Ans: C bt A: 0??? 6. Ans: B bt C: 0??? Also, I think with 1, 2, 3, the final result (5 events) might be too close to determine the winner. Also, this might give very low scoring for most participants (I don't want to get "0" as my grade, u know) Here's my suggestion (might be more work for Kwun, sorry...): If the correct answer is A bt B: 1. Ans: A bt B: 8 (perfect, hard to get) 2. Ans: B bt A: 5 (not easy to correctly identified the finalists) 3. Ans: A bt C: 3 (know the champ is good) 4. Ans: C bt B: 2 (not bad to know the runner up) 5. Ans: C bt A: 1 (well, still better than nothing) 6. Ans: B bt C: 1 (same as #5) This way, correctly identify the result is still way outstanding, well give some encouragement for the not so-lucky participants. If I still score a "0", I won't complain this time...
Scoring System #3 Here's another thought: 2 stage scoring system: Stage 1: Correctly identify the 2 finalists. Each right name (pair) worth 2 points. Stage 2: Correctly identify the final result. Correct Champ name: 3, correct Runner up name: 2, correct name, but wrong rank: 1 for each name (pair) Ex: Final result A bt B 1. Ans A bt B: Stage 1: 4, Stage 2: 4 ---> 8 2. Ans B bt A: Stage 1: 4, Stage 2: 2 ---> 6 3. Ans A bt C: Stage 1: 2, Stage 2: 3 ---> 5 4. Ans C bt B: Stage 1: 2, Stage 2: 2 ---> 4 5. Ans C bt A: Stage 1: 2, Stage 2: 1 ---> 3 6. Ans B bt C: Stage 1: 2, Stage 2: 1 ---> 3 Compare to my previous one, this one "encourage" even more for participants. And ppl have good knowledge (knowing good players) but not luck (wrong rank), might get a better chance to shoot for the grand prize! Kwun, don't hate me.... heheheheheh...
LB. thanks for the suggestion. for this edition, the contest rules are posted and it is too late to change now. i will take your suggestions into consideration for the next time. ok?
