Hiya, I play badminton for quite some time now at recreational level. Almost all these years I used my Yonex MusclePower 25. Now I'm thinking of replacing the racket for a new one. My games are about 70% doubles and 30% singles, and though I'm quick enough I have a hard time hitting the shuttle from one end to the other. I have an offensive playing style, in which I like to smash the shuttle as quickly as possible. My budget is up to €100,-. Because of my playing style I'm thinking about a head heavy racket. At this moment I'm doubting between the Yonex Voltric 7 and the Yonex Voltric 9. Which of the two is the best pick? Or are there any other recommendations which are better for that price?
it is lighter. VT 5 and VT 9 are under 3U category, where VT 7 is under 4U. VT 9 is stiffer comparing to VT 5 and VT 7. If you are well used to MusclePower my opinion for you is to go for the VT 9 but beware that it is stiffer. And there are a little bit of vibration issues if I am not mistaken...
good, you are well used to MusclePower my opinion for you is to go for the VT 9 but beware that it is stiffer.
It really doesn't matter which racket as you can't hit the bird from end to end. Play more attention to you stroke rather than switching racket.
Have you ever had your racket restrung? Is your grip huge? Do you hit the shuttle clean? No point changing your racket if there is an underlying problem!
Are you sure?, have you ever flexed a Voltric 9 before? It's super flexible , it's rated stiff but it's super incorrect.
Don't switch racquets yet. Focus on your technique pronation and supination watch YouTube videos on it , I learned well and trust me it helps a lot. Do you use pan handle grip? Where you hold the racquet and the string bed is pointing up and down? That's incorrect if so.
comparing VT9 to those high end rackets of course it is much more flexible. But looking at the level of rackets he is looking at, VT 9 is definitely much more stiffer comparing to the other 2. And yes, I have flexed the racket before. And I own all 3 of the rackets before selling it to my friends...
