Are Luo Ying / Luo Yu twins? I watched them play in the Singapore Open and thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. Probably confusing for the umpire as well. If they are twins are they the first professional twins in the history of badminton?
I don't know if any of the Sidek pairs were twins. Probably not. But Malaysia had a top professional pair who didn't get the attention they deserved. They were the Yap twins - Yap Yee Guan and Yap Hee Huck. Unfortunately, they didn't get picked to represent Malaysia at the 1996 Atlanta Games. Sarawak has a pair of twins waiting to break into the Malaysian side. They are the 19-year-old Lau brothers - Adam Lau and Alfred Lau. By the way, Hendra Setiawan has twins: Richard Setiawan and Richele Setiawan. They were born in February this year. Perhaps, one day, they will be Mixed Doubles Champions --------- Henri Hurskainen of Sweden is famous as the Unknown Sedin. He made news a few years ago for his uncanny resemblance to the Sedin twins (Henrik and Daniel) who play for the Vancouver Canucks

yes , there twins and they play very malignant as they are dressed and have the same accessories and i guess its based on the confusion so that their opponents find some difficulty in recognize who is who and on who to play...
Currently, the Luo sisters are ranked 10th Currently, the Luo sisters, LUO Ying/LUO Yu, are ranked 10th. Source: http://www.bwfbadminton.org/page.aspx?id=14955 These twin sisters make very impressive, fast track progresses in WD!! In the last mid/Nov/2013 they're still beyond the Top-100. Their ranking progresses in WD are: #10 4/24/2014 #14 4/17/2014 #17 4/10/2014 #19 3/20/2014; 3/27/2014; 4/3/2014 #25 3/13/2014 #31 2/20/2014; 2/27/2014; 3/6/2014 #39 1/23/2014; 1/30/2014; 2/6/2014; 2/13/2014 #38 1/16/2014 #55 12/12/2013; 12/19/2013; 12/26/2013; 1/2/2014; 1/9/2014 #54 12/5/2013 #77 11/28/2013 #75 11/21/2013 #104 11/14/2013 In upcoming ranking list, they will further climb to higher position based on the 2014 BAC results (regardless the outcome in the tomorrow's final).
For their opponents, there is not much need to identify the two since they play more or less the same way. Only if one is injured or having a difficult time at service, then the opponents should pay more attention to who is who. They play like a turbo-charged Japanese WD pair. Still, their game is boring to watch unless the other pair is offensive minded.
Luo Sisters Will be Eligible for 2014 World Championships in Copenhagen I just noted in "2014 WC Qualifications" thread (post #12) that the Luo Sisters will be eligible for coming 2014 World Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark as the China's WD #3 (after Wang Xiaoli/Yu Yang and Bao Yixin/Tang Jinhua)... at the expense of Tian Qing/Zhao Yunlei. The poor Tian Qing won't attend WC!
YY is supposedly having some kind of problem. At this point, among the Chinese pairs in top 24, only BYX/TJH is sure to go and MJ/TJH is sure to pass.
Yes, poor Tian Qing. What happened to her? Why hasn't she been playing many tournaments? She is Olympic Champion after all! I'm surprised that CBA isn't using her much anymore. What problem is YY supposedly having?

The twins kind of remind me of the way Matsutomo/Takahashi play. They are looking to defend and counter attack. And there isn't a definitive front/back preference.
And so far these two pairs only met twice and they share a level H2H (1-1):

Time Tournament Draw Score

Fri 1/10/2014 Victor Korea Open 2014 WD

Misaki Matsutomo [2]

Ayaka Takahashi

-

Ying Luo

Yu Luo

13-21 21-23

Thu 12/2/2010 3:00 PM China Open Super Series 2010 WD

Matsutomo Misaki

Ayaka Takahashi

-

Luo Ying

Luo Yu

21-13 19-21 21-17

The Luo twins are expected to meet Bao and Tang in the 2nd round of the Indonesia Open. They only met twice and the Luo twins lost both of the occasions. However, I think that the Luo twins have a real chance to cause an upset here. The twins lost to Bao and Tang when they were on their winning streak, the invincible period. The streak is gone now and they don't seem that invincible anymore. Moreover, the loss at the Uber Cup Final will definitely affect their confidence as it was the only match China lost during their whole campaign. But this does not mean that Bao and Tang are weak and to be underestimated. The chance to cause an upset is possible, as long as the twins can take advantage of this and play on top of their game. P/s: And one intersting fact, Bao Yixin and Luo Yu used to play together as a pair before.
Zhang wen qi (张文绮) Luo yu (落雨暝) Wow, it's happened like that song... http://pinyin.azlyricdb.com/lyrics/Z/Zhang-wen-qi-Luo-yu-pinyin-lyrics-1094227 Congratulation for both Zhang Wen & Luo Yu
What's happening? Zhang Wen proposed to Luo Yu for her hand in marriage ? Or just an expression of his love for her ?
Hahaha, yeah, man. If Zhang Wen still cannot differentiate the two sisters, he might as well marry both of them, if possible !
