    Sensational game...

    Some really exceptional rallies...

Lu Kai doesnt seem to be very limited by his height, he has a very good drive and smash game!!

Also Cai Yun still has a bit left in him... great stuff!!

Fantastic battle, excellent. Frankly,I hadn't thought they could beat the KOR Yoo/Kim, the conqueror of Ahsan/Setiawan.

Right, the 34-yr-old Cai Yun still has it in him as shown by his partnership with the young Lu Kai whom he is mentoring, and they are in the final of the SIN Superseries '14 ! Unlike Fu Haifeng whom CBA is actively trying to pair him up with a suitable partner with the aim of going for Rio'16 if possible, Cai Yun is not expected to carry on for longer than a year or so.

My understanding is that Cai Yun is tasked to help train and groom up-and-coming MD players in tournament conditions, a duty that he is beginning perform quite well with some remarkable results. Cai Yun is still a trusty sword, if I may describe him thus.

Congrats to Cai Yun and Lu Kai, great job winning the SIN Open SS'14 MD title. And playing excellent badminton too en route to the final.

Hats off to volcom for having the foresight to open a thread for the pair.

Gotta hand it to Lu Kai. He showed that he's a quick learner and improved drastically in just a month's time. He shows that he has good court awareness, which is not common for the big men on the Chinese team.

Lol... I've never see CY (nor any 30 something yr old player) do a dance like that when he won the Singapore open, not even when he won OG 2012. :D

This pair is good but IMHO, it's not as deadly as FHF/HW or FHF/CB

From a simple technical perspective I'd agree. What I have read in some Chinese articles, however, seems to be that FHF is more introverted whereas CY will actively be telling his partner what should be doing, and this I feel is more valuable to those players' development as a whole.

The playmaker ie. front player will always be telling the rear player what to do. ;) Eg. LYD, KKK, Setiawan.

Is it just me, or does Lu Kai have a really awkward smashing motion?
