I just saw on Sports Direct they have the Carlton Kinesis X900 LTD for pre-order http://www.sportsdirect.com/carlton-kinesis-x900-ltd-badminton-racket-723056?colcode=72305601 has anyone been lucky enough to see one or try one yet?
Yeah I know what you mean Ben. I was hoping someone would have tried it to see how it compared to the other kinesis but we will see if the price drops after a few months.
Luckily, I tried it one week ago as Carlton sent us some samples from their new rackets. The paintjob is quiet similar to an adidpower Duoforce and looks good. The Vortex geometry system is much more visible with this new design. Specs written are : very stiff shaft - head heavy balance (as usual with Carlton) - 82 grs. That last information caught my attention because you rarely see a extra stiff racket with light weight. In play, I liked the fact that the head-heavy balance was reasonnable. On the midcourt game, it feels quiet comfortable. I like stiff rackets so I appreciated his accuracy ... As usual I didn't like the racket head from the Kinesis who's IMO not very stable.
Thanks for the information ik2009, it sounds like a good racket. We will have to see how much the price drops once the racket is on sale.
One for sale http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301495300076?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
Any other review on this? Extra Stiff and HH should be interesting many ppls here. I like the paint a lot, but I don't trust the Kinesis series anymore, since the original Kinesis had a life span of.. two hours or so.
Anymore reviews? I wonder if anyone with victor jetspeed 4u rackets had tried one and could compare. I like my JS10 4u but this may be a good backup.
Im on the lookout for one of these to try at a reasonable price so let me know if you have one for sale or trade. http://www.badmintoncentral.com/for...81-Carlton-Kinesis-X900-UK-Europe-(LTD-White)
I finally got around to trying the Kinesis x900 last night. The racket was so light, fast and manoeuvrable! I had just been using my kinesis x80 which felt so much heavier, the x900 had almost as much power as straight away and I think it would give the same power with time to adjust to the lighter weight. The only downside for me was the lack of feedback, I mostly use Victor rackets which seem to give me more feel than other rackets such as Yonex. I switched to my 4U Victor JS10 after the x900 which felt marginally heavier but had a lot nicer feel. For others that prefer Yonex and other brands I think the x900 would be a very good racket to try especially now the price is coming down to under £100.
In comparison to the Li-Ning N7, the x900 felt lighter and slightly more manoeuvrable but the N7 was more stable and had more feel. They are both similar on power in my opinion.
From the specs of the kinesis range, it looks like they've added a tapered shaft to the newer kinesis (X900 onwards). Dave1011, could you tell whether the tapered shaft was making any difference between the X80 and X900?
The x900 was a lot faster than x80 but that may just have been due to the difference in weight. I didn't notice a difference in the shaft but I will have a look closer when I have my bag with me.
Thanks for Review Dave. Did you figure out the BP? The rating sounds similar to 4U ZF2, but reading your review I don't think X900 has as much power.
Hi, no I haven't measured the balance point unfortunately. I imagine the x900 will be slightly faster than the 4u zfii but the zfii would be more stable and a little more powerful.
The shaft on the x900 looks maybe marginally thinner than the x80 in side by side comparison but not much difference. I think it's deceptive because of the colour difference.
I know what you mean from others experience but I've never had a problem with any of the Kinesis rackets I've had or my friends have had. The weight and balance work really well, just not the same feedback I get from my Victor rackets.
