I remember Gillian Clark making a comment about one of the Danish women's singles players in the 2004 Uber Cup semi-final and about how her jump smash looked like a men's doubles player's. I seem to think she was talking about Tine Rasmussen but maybe it was Camilla.

In any case, I'm not surprised that timeless has only seen one woman do it. It is very rare. In the Korea Open, the two women's doubles pairs from Indonesia, Novita/Polii and Nurlita/Poluakan, were really getting noticed because they were jumping for most of their smashes. All four of them are tiny, though, so they really had to to avoid just driving. I think one of the singles players from Hong Kong, Malaysia or Taiwan was jumping, too. I think Julia Wong or Pai Min Je or Yip Pui Yin.

Anyway, that is straying from the spirit, if not literally from the title, of the thread.

Well.... I have yet to see any female players who do jump-smash... I barely do jump-smash anyway because I do not really require that extra height...

there are plenty of girls around that can jump smash that I know of~...dunno why lot of you seem to find it super suprising that a girl can jump smash..
