Disappointing selection in thomas cup. They did not even consider arvind bhat? I dont have any idea about in what way they selected these players. Only 3 players so far won a gpg tournament. Out of those three, they left one and selected other 2 which shows their partiality. Oldhand, do you have any idea Why they missed him ?!!. I am really disappointed. Just because he is not from gopichand's academy.?

Well.. Arvind Bhat phenomenally did achieve the German Open GPG victory and defeated some big names but you cannot shun the fact that he lost in the qualifications of the Indian Open as well as fell tamely to the No.1 seed in the NZL GP. On the other hand, the ones chosen have been quite consistent in their performances. I'm rather surprised they did not pick Alwin Francis who's been partnering Arun Vishu in MD and the duo defeated some big names and also managed to give tough fights to top-ranked players before losing in some.

In newzealand GP , he reached semis but lost to top seed whereas sourabh verma was second seed there but lost to unseeded player in the 3rd round itself. Tell me, how many indians won GPG so far?. Kashyap, srikanth and arvind bhat. Who else?.
And also I am very dissappointed for not selecting alwin francis who along with arun vishnu were playing well in recent times. It's fishy. Do they give reasons for their selection?. I don't even know why they selected gurusaidutt? And also they left rituparna das who reached finals of senior nationals. Except sindhu and saina , all others are weak in singles.

Alwin Francis and Rituparna should be included in the squad..... I think in current squad pranav/vishnu combination will be a decent one.... really sad about India's third singles in uber cup.... :( Disappointing selection

India Thomas team is grouped with MAS, KOR and GER, tough and interesting group C. Let's see whether the host can fulfill the quarterfinal target.

It's really tough. India is a second tier badminton nation. India need to beat atleast 2 countries to reach quarters. Even germany is a tough nut to crack for india. How can they beat either korea or malaysia.

Yesterday, gopichand said in an interview about their strength in singles. They have to take 3 singles from korea and 2 singles and 1 doubles from malaysia in order to beat them.

I don't know how they are saying something like that. Let's see what will happen. If any of that happened, then that would be history.

Obviously it tough...every thing is dependent on k. Srikanth....he has to def wan ho son at any cost...Scorpion wasn't expecting this from u....arundhati or even pc can def rituparna any time.....gurusaidutt reached q.f. In the recently concluded ABC and moreover any of them(srikanth kashyap guru)can def. Arvind in straight sets..yeah agree about Alwin ...the team selected is the from india...and now they have to execute it well..

Parupalli VS Lee Dong Keun is another key match if the Indian contingent is looking to beat Korea since the head-2-head is in favor of the Korean. India will have to win all 3 singles against Korea in order to win the tie. Against Malaysia, there is an extremely slim chance since there'll be heavy dependence on MS2, MS3 and one of the doubles pairs to collect points. Against Germany, it should be relatively easier for India. In the Uber Cup, WS1 should go in favor of Thailand considering Saina's poor form. Jwala/Ashwini, Sindhu and WD2 will have to be relied upon instead to lead India to victory. Against Canada and Hong Kong, India should be able to win comfortably.

Just note HK WD1 Poon Look Yan/ Tse Ying Sute is so strong and HK's WD2 has Chau Hoi Wah who take gold medal from mixed double in BAC 2014 so if IND uber cup will win over HK they should win all WS.
