Wow, I just saw an advert for the Asia cup on cable here in HK.
It's really cool. It's partly in black and white, shows players smashing in slow motion and is silent except for a smashing sound which has an echo effect.

The programme is being shown in the w/end. I think 11am on Sat. (Sports 2)
    Yeah, yeah.

HK seems to have had the best badminton coverage this year with good quality images. Star sports really had bad quality transmisson to HK.

Dunno who'll be doing the commentary.

Apart from the AE, the English commentary has been quite superb in "lack of quality" dept. They haven't a clue what's going on. The Cantonese version is much more technical, explaining the tactics and when the person accelerates to the shot at an appropriate moment etc. I guess she is a coach.

I'm still learning cantonese so it's sometimes difficult to keep up.

Really itching to see Lee Hyun Il in action again. He is really good. Just watch his smashes. Very sharp, quick action.

is the English commentry still done by Gillian Clark and Anthony whoever? if so, yes, they are quite clueless.

i have only heard one Cantonese commentry, the mixed doubles final during the Olympics. done by Chan Lim Chee (former HK #1 lady, and world ranking as high as #2 in mixed doubles). she did a good job. the best ones though, are the Mandarin ones by the Chinese coaches. do they still have them?

Not surprising friend. High incomes and small dense

urban area to install cables.Must be one of few places in world

where pay for view is feasible, no government restrictions

    either.

Some of mandarin commentary is done by Zhao Jian Hua,the

Ae soetimes feature former England internationals such as

Darren Hall. The cantonese commentary is very lively and full

of explanations and suggestions and strategy options, they just

don't say" what a shot" etc.

I heard the advertisement tonight, I think it is likely to be a telecast programme and the programme will be shown on both Saturday and Sunday.

To be fair I think Anthony Bush did a pretty OK job.
Gillian Clark's (plus whoever {Simon Archer/Darren Hall/A Bush}) commentary tend to focus on the psychology of the match rather than the technical aspects.
    Whatever takes your fancy.
Matches this year are not on Star and Star has the Mandarin commentary.
