In 2002 I had ACL reconstruction but I skipped out physiotherapy (scared of hot wax dropped on the knee) due to which range of motion was just 70 percent. I got injured(horrifying fall) while playing an overhead shot in badminton in 1999

I started playing badminton in 2014 again and yesterday again reinjured the same knee. MRI reveals medial meniscus tear.
I have an appointment with a doctor and doctor has said immediate surgery.
I am very depressed . I want to play badminton again.
    Please guide.

Listen to your doctor and don't bail out of physical therapy. This way is the fastest to get back on court again.

My ortho specialist will not operate if he feels the patient won't do physiotherapy after surgery. It is that important for recovery.

Make sure you rest it lots. Ice, elevate. Let pain be your guide.

Have no fear. When I had mine, I didn't even know about it. All I know was part of my cartilage was cut, but no one told me my meniscus was cleaned up too.
1 month after that, I started playing again as if nothing has happened. Guess what? The same leg had bee giving me problems all this years until I started paying attention to it the past several years and realise my foolishness to ignore medical attention that I should pay attention to. So I hope you do yourself a favour and rest you leg well in full recovery and then back to your game. Do not ignored any more because it will turn to hunt you as you grow old just like me.

Fortunately for me, I have my TCM to thank for treatment that helps ease most of problem... pay price in seeking treatment
