Hello everybody. I play on daily basis at a club. The problem that i am facing is the courts have rough wooden surface and picking the birdie from the ground using the racket causes minor scratches on the racket. Doing repetitively may even harm the string as the string will come in contact with the floor. Can anyone suggest on how can i protect my racket from getting scratched?

    Thanks

Paper tape. Use 1/2 inch wide paper tape.
    I use something like this:

Stick on the head, from 10 o'clock to 2 o'clock. Make sure you have the same length of tape on either side of the vertical, otherwise the your racquet head will feel slightly unbalanced.

Thanks for the suggestion! Can you post a picture of your racket showing this?

    LOL, what a question.
You really care about scratches on your badminton racket? Would be about the last thing I care about...

Actually, I have tried that! It would have worked if i play 2 or 3 times in a week. But as i've mentioned above, i play daily for a minimum of 2 hrs. So, bending down each time is not a good idea. Anyways thanks for thinking on a solution.

I use insulating tape. It's cheap, lightweight and doesn't stick so hard that it'll rip off the paint off your racket.

There are lighter alternatives if you want almost no weight to be added though.

Hehe... Sorry for being facetious. :)

You can always use light medical paper tape like 3M Micropore tape.

Insulation tape would be too heavy at 0.1g per cm length of 3/4 inch width. Unless that was your intention to also increase swing wt.

But after your first racket clash, you won't care how many scratches you have on your shiny racket. :p

They're not free but they're only perhaps $3 per roll of 3/4 inch width at the local pharmacy.

But heh... I "borrow" only a few cm, no one will miss it. ;) :p

Now I know exactly where my $s go... :(

To the OP: basically any paper-based tape would work. Use paint masking tape if that is available where you are.
