I was given some to test and give feedback on by a club coach.

Only just strung it, I'll use it tomorrow evening.

What have you heard? The guy that gave it to me is vague on his best days.

The guy who I heard about it from was very positive with only good things to say, and he is not an Ashaway string lover.
So it sounds like it could be a good string to test.
    Lucky you.

I'm not a fan of Ashaway strings, I string for players at this club and he gave it to me to try because I was best suited to use it.

I've used ZM65 Black before and this is very similar physically. It's definitely a .65 but it's maybe a touch more slippery to touch than normal Zymax.

So that makes two of you who are not fans of Ashaway strings.

Approach it with an open mind and see what it feels like?

Played with it for 3 hours today. It does everything well enough at 27lb, I still dont like .65's though. It's too thin for me.

If, as you say, it does everything well enough, what makes you say that it is too thin for you?

What is your basis for saying this? what don't you like about it?

I am only asking as I base my opinion's on 'feelings' when playing clears, drops, smashes and control at net etc. regardless of gauge of string.

All my favourite strings are .68/69's. VS850, 880zti, 800 & BG80, this lacks a bit of meat behind it.

It's a control string, power is decent and touch is adequate at 27lb. Typically as it's Asahway it moves a bit even fresh at 27lb. If it was thicker, I would have taken the tension up a few pound to see how it compares to my go to strings.

I'm a big, powerful guy and I need a bit more weight to my string to make the most of my power.

What do you normally go for tension wise?

I like a higher tension and normally go 27lbs+ and really do like BG80 at 29lbs.

I tried it... wasn't impressed. Reminded me somewhat of an "unfinished" Z65.

Very good power initially, but lost its flavour pretty quickly.

I thought it was zm65 black at first as I've used that previously until it lost a lot of its snap and started moving.

It wouldn't make my top 5 even though its matt finish looks nice on the jjs.
