What other tournaments are there that are like the Thomas and Uber Cup, where the players play as a team for their country. Besides the Olympics of course.

Thanks Cheung. So I have the Commonwealth Games this year to look forward to and next year for the Sudirman Cup. Just started watching many of the different tournaments and I find these country/team tournament brings more tension and excitement to the table.

I just checked to see if the Pan Am Games in Toronto next year had a team format but alas not. Just thought it might interest you since you were in the US.

Axiata cup, where the winning team gets to split a cool $1 million.

it is one thing to watch one, but another experience all together to play in one. of course, most of us cannot even dream to play in the TC/UC/SC/AC, etc. but there are a number of locally organized team tournaments. i have played in some and it is a completely different experience than individual tournament. there is a noticeable difference in cheering and team spirit. :)
