The 2016 Thomas and Uber Cups will be held in Kunshan, China, at the Kunshan Sports Centre.

Badminton World Federation (BWF) president Paul-Erik Hoyer made the announcement after its Council meeting on Wednesday. The other city to bid for the biennial event was Jakarta which lost out to the Chinese city.

The prestigious event was held in India for the first time May 18-25.

In another announcement, the BWF said the 2015 World Junior Championships will be held in Lima, Peru, at the National Sports Village.

Just been looking up the city of Kushan on wiki.

    Seems quite a progressive city.

Still, there has been quite a number TC/UC/sudirman cup in China.

Just would like to see another edition in HK/Japan/India/Thailand/Singapore etc

Yup, one country but different city. CHN had staged TUC thrice before, 1998 (Hong Kong S.A.R.), 2002 (Guangzhou) and 2012 (Wuhan).

So we'll see all upcoming BWF team events Sudirman (Dongguan), Thomas, Uber Cups will take place in China.

Lima (Peru) will be the host city for next year WJC, second times for South America country after Guadalajara (Mexico) back to 2010 edition.

I notice you didn't list 1996 for HK. Was that because of it still a british territory?:D

I think a lot of countries would actually quite like to host it but are concerned about the financial costs. I suspect a lot of the tournaments receive local city funding to host the tournament.

I don't see Malaysia hosting any of the major team events for another 6 years unless suddenly they produce a winning team out of the players they have now.
