in my opinion Kevin was probably the best Pan-American representative in the men singles within the last 20 - 25 or so.

He beat chen long and made his way to the quarter final stage of the world championships in 2011.

    World Championships 2011:

Also, beat Rajiv Ouseph and gave Sho Sasaki in the last 16 a run for his money at the olympics:

After these fantastic results, he played a match against Brice LEVERDEZ and lost VERY badly, which was very interesting considering his past results. after this match against the frenchman he disappeared? I would LOVE to see more of him, but he's retired? injured? anybody know what's going on with him?

well, looking at those results, he clearly not back in form. Hes pan american champion, those results losing to Abian and Hock lee in straight sets is not like him.

Indeed, but then would you expect any more considering the likely sparring partners he has and having had a year out of BWF tournament action?

well, I know Guatemala probably doesn't have the best sparring partners in the world but i was under the impression he trains and lives in Spain/Denmark. I'm just wondering if these results he's had were a "one hit wonder" so to speak. Like Tago making the All England Final in 2010. Maybe just inspired and that day was his day. nobody was gonna beat him that day :p

But I hope he can go further up there.

Somewhere along the line, it was said he was injured - I don't have a reference for it. If true, must be a serious one to knock him out for a year.

Kevin had a horrific injury at last years Peru international. If I remember correctly, he tore his acl and subsequently put him out of badminton. I'm actually amazed he has returned so quickly but he has been playing with a lot of supports which has made his movement terrible (genuinely terrible)

Hopefully he'll recover fully eventually as the Cordon of old was very promising. Don't expect anything for a while though.
