Hi, I have a few rackets left in the bag for long time, the grip become sticky and powdery. It stain the racket, bag. I spend much time clean up the mess and scrap away the sticky grip. I wonder how long it will last for the new PU tape if I do not use it often. Seem tower grip is a better choice for less frequent use rackets. Does any one has better wrap material for less use racket?
why dont you keep it out of the bag? I made a special place to hang my rackets and so far the grip is in good condition (but not sure if left for 2-3 months).
It is worst than this, the grip become black sticky powdery. It will stick to your hand and any bag or shirt. I keep it in bag as no space and usually do not check after 2-3 years. Maybe grip need to breath.
You are right the towel grip will not disintegrate. I had the same thing happen with my old racquet - the grip became powdery and sticky. Have to unwrap it over the dustbin to keep the floor clean. The racquet wasn't used for 10 years until my children started to learn badminton. Or, leave it unwrapped with just the wooden handle exposed until you do use it.
my old old racket was so bad that part of it was just stick to the wood, so i had to sand down the wooden handle and replace with a replacement grip. i agree with what everyone says about towel grip, probably your best choice.
Why not leave it un gripped except with a gauze or scothtape or insulation tape over the wood? Like this, you save the trouble of gripping it and you can leave it longer?
