Visited the Gosen website tonight and saw that there are two new racquets out, the Gungnir Alpha and Beta. The Gosen facebook page provides more information, and their chart suggests that the are balanced/head light and "hard feeling" (stiff?). While head light racquets aren't really my thing, superficially at least, these are fantastic looking racquets. Apparently out in June...wait, that's NOW!
Yes, I thought so too, but more vibrant. Looking at the price it seems it may be their flagship head light series.
Haha, that would've been cooler. Gungnir sounds like some kind of norwegian vampire from a game. Anymore specs on these bad boys?
According to some Japanese testing, the swing weight of the Gungnir Alpha is just similar to 4u NR800, While the Gungnir Beta is similar to Ryoga Tenbu
Gungnir is a 80 holes racquet! Which i believe is better control racquet. I have tried one in Australia when I was playing in my group and some GOSEN retailer come by and do a road show. The smashing power is good for beta (they put on one of their new G-TONE 9 string as well, the sound was excellent!) , haven't got a chance to play the Alpha yet but my friend got one from them, so may try them out next week when I play with him XP
Got the Beta today and tried it for 3hrs. Will do a write up against the Vt80and MX80. As of now is a fantastic racket. The additional 5mm does make a lot more difference in term of swing speed and the overall feel on power.
I tried the Alpha and it is pretty good. Fast swing and the power is easier to generate compare to Fleet Triotec T6 which I think is it's cousin as they are very very similar. Same head design and most say the Gungnir is made by Fleet. Probably different material used which explains the difference. If you can get the Gungnir and Ryoga series for the same price, I will go for the Ryoga Shiden instead.
