Either the sole is dusty or you don't know how to make your shoes squeak.

Probably has to be broken in first, as there's a mold release layer on the sole. Or just clean it with acetone.

Yes, play with a guy and he is my dads friend. When I had my old trainers, they didn't Squeak, he said because my shoes aren't squeaking I'm not working hard enough

Personally I think that's hogwash. It sounds like "If I don't have to dive in badminton to save a shot, I'm not putting in enough effort." My shoes certainly don't squeak all the time even thought I play on wooden floor but it doesn't mean I'm not working hard enough.

If you're playing against opponents you normally play with then there's not reason you usually have to move as much as against someone you don't because you already know their general plays and you don't have to run to get into position as often. At least that's my take on playing regularly with the same group weekly.

I've seen players win without exerting much energy on the court. Getting a squeak out of the shoes means nothing except exerting a large amount of energy changing directions.

It's nonsense to say someone is not working hard enough because of lack of noise from the shoes. Just like it is nonsense to say one is not working hard enough because he/she did not bring home the 1st place trophy.
