If you're talking about the Tacoma Daffodil Invitational, dates for the two tourney do not coincide. The Tacoma tournament runs from April 17 to 18.
The Washington Open runs from May 20 to 22, which is the week before.

If you're a beginner, you might wanna come by and just enjoy watching the games and chatting with everyone else. It's a very friendly atmosphere, and I'm sure you'll have fun even if you're not playing.
If your game is decent, and you have a basic mastery of a variety of shots, I'd encourage you to come. You'll probably end up losing most of your games, but some of them will be tight matches, and I'm sure you'll still find the event most enjoyable.
The games will go like this: The 20 teams will be divided into 4 groups, with each group having a seed team that will probably kick everyone's butt within his own group. But accidents do happen, as the organizer (that's me) can't possibly anticipate all the surprises that might be in store.
Round-robin games will be played in the preliminary round, and the top two teams from each group will proceed to the championship draw. The remaining three teams from each group (that's 3x4=12 teams in total) will proceed to the consolation draw.
You may want to check out what some of the fellow BFers have to say about the last tournament that was held in November.

For the most part, I think the feedback was generally positive.

Hello folks. Due to the small number of registrations I have received thus far, I am extending the registration deadline by two weeks to Friday, May 7. I hope this will work out better with everyone's schedule. If you know anyone who might be interested, please pass the word along.

Yah, having the deadline a bit nearer the tournament really makes it a lot easier for players because they will have a better grip of their schedule.

Hi Traum,
Is this still on, or cancelled?

Unfortunately, the tournament has been cancelled due to low registration numbers. And since the church is pretty much booked throughout the next couple of weeks by weddings and stuff, I can't really postpone the event.
I have already informed all the participants about the bad news...
<sigh> Maybe there will be a better turn out next time around?
