Hi there, does anyone have any links or know where to find good footwork / movement drills and exercises?
Been on youtube and found some videos but ideally looking for some videos from top coaches etc?

Great video.. Note that he is left handed and the footwork will be opposite for right handed.

when they do the splitstep they have the left foot a little bit (sometimes pretty far) in front of the other

what i saw mostly on footwork training is that you make splitstep parallel or the RIGHT foot a little bit in front

now when to do what would be the best way to do it?!

Well it all depends on where you're going. If you can anticipate where your opponent is hitting, you can place your feet in that general direction. For example, if you're right handed and your opponent drops to the front left corner, then you can move your left foot in front a bit to get ready for the shot. It's easier than trying to move to that corner with your right leg in front. You can try on court and feel the difference. With no shuttle, try to split step with your left foot in front and move to the corner as fast as possible, then try it with the other foot. It's a world of difference :)

Do the split step how you saw previously until either a) you can split late enough to change your split axis AND still get to the shuttle or b) you situationally expect that the shuttle is more likely to be returned in a specific corner

i think you are referring to the movement from the centre position on court.

For singles training, usually have slightly right foot forward ;)

Doubles it can be the other way round.
