Yes she is out......Indian sports update confirmed it yesterday evening... That is a real set back not only for India but for every sports enthusiast....India not only lost one medal(most probably gold) but also the people keen to watch an all India finale for the first time are disheartened....the competition is even weaker now.... Really sad :( wish her to cope up of injury soon and give her best in AG n WC

Even 50% fit saina can win a gold medal . But she opted out citing injury.. Her blisters and groin injury seems to be very much affecting her free movement . Even the top BAI official tried to convince her but invain(read somewhere). Now, the gold medal is open to anybody.

Over enthusiastic Kirsty Gilmour , Very confident Li Michelle, Very young promising talent P.V.Sindhu and Very much improved P.C.Thulasi , all are contenders for the title. Let's see who grabs it.

But i can say , P.C.Thulasi is a dark horse for the title.

Both Lee CW and Nehwal have pulled out, they should prepare best condition at home toward WC next month, the schedule is too close between Commonwealth Games and WChamp.

    Mixed event final (1) : 28th July 2014
    Individual event finals (5) : 3rd August 2014

Haha, such boastful, uncalled-for remarks!

Must have forgotten those times that SN had lost.

Anyway, thanks to Mr Epic for creating this thread. :)

    11 days. 6 Golds. Shuttles at 300+km/h.
    Dexterity. Anticipation.

Badminton players are the gymnasts of racquet sports. Watch as they lunge, stretch and leap, sending the shuttle flying across the court.

Widely regarded as the fastest racquet sport in the world, with shuttles travelling at more than 300km/h, Badminton will feature on all 11 days of the Games programme.

Six Gold medal events will take in Men’s and Women’s Singles and Doubles, Mixed Doubles and a combined Mixed Team event.

Singles and Doubles competitions will consist of a straight knockout draw, while the Mixed Team match will be contested over a range of preliminary rounds before a Finals knockout format reveals the eventual winners.

Competition will take centre stage across six purpose-built courts at the Emirates Arena.

    Venue: Emirates Arena [East End]

I have no idea of TJT. I never watched her playing . But she seems to me as good player. Let's see what happens.

As it is confirmed now clearly that SAINA will never participate in Common wealth games, TJT is now 4th seed. So, she will never meet the other top seeds until semifinals. Her best chance to grab a medal. Which medal is a question now..?

Commonwealth Games 2014: Scots badminton medal hopeful Kirsty Gilmour given major boost as defending champion Saina Nehwal pulls out

    http://http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/commonwealth-games/scots-badminton-medal-hopeful-kirsty-3882895

    EXCERPTS:

SCOTS badminton hope Kirsty Gilmour has been handed a boost after defending champion, Saina Nehwal of India, pulled out of the Commonwealth Games.

The world No.7, who has been forced out with a foot injury, was expected to be named top seed going into Monday’s team and individual draw.

Nehwal has beaten Gilmour in straight sets in all three of their clashes to date but the Scot’s record against Sindhu is better. They have met once with Gilmour winning in three games in the second round of last year’s French Open Superseries.

Former star Gail Emms, who won gold at Manchester and Melbourne for England, reckons Gilmour’s hopes of glory have increased with the withdrawal of Nehwal.

She said: “I didn’t know if Kirsty could get gold or not as Nehwal is No.1, although she could definitely medal.

“I’m jealous of Kirsty. I’m jealous all the time actually. Any time I see sport I’m sad it’s not me any more.

No one cheers for me any more and that’s the one thing I miss now I’m a retired sportsperson.

what is this all about ??;)
