Ok, i know this is have been discussed, but i need help. I've been a panhandler since the day i picked up a raquet. But the problem is that i just cant seem to smash as hard or "flick" the risk like others. So now, im ready to change the way i grab the raquet. So can anyone would be nice enough to link me to somewhere that has pictures of holding a raquet the proper way. Also wut position to hold to smash, clear, and defend. Some info about my self: 16yrs old playin for fun .. in elemtary. then stoped till grade 11, (this year) and start to play again. and i've been playin for 5 months now .. once a week.
In badminton, you don't use just one grip for every single shot that you play. Different grips are used to play different shots, and you hold the handle at different places as well (closer to butt end, choking the cone, etc.) depending on the type of shots you play. For clears and other power shots, you might want to check out this thread: http://www.badmintonforum.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5506 It comes complete with pictures of kwun's hands (and his messy room). -Rick
I should have a "grips guide" with photos soon, which can be used as a reference. Watch this space! Anyway, at your level of play, you should not try to learn too many grips at once. Concentrate on the basic forehand and backhand grips; later you may learn variations on these. Try to avoid using the panhandle grip at all - it will encourage bad habits. YES, it has uses, but you're better off without it for now.
thanx for the replies guys .. also to the guy that was gonna post image to raquet holding. when do u think ur gonna put it up
Since I haven't heard back from Kwun yet, I may as well make this "public". So far I've just done the forehand, but will update soon with the other basic grips: http://www.snarkpit.com/pits/gollum/baddy/Grips.html
