    Hi guys,
My coach strung my racket in ultimax at 27lbs with pre stretch, and it broke when he had nearly completed the vertical, does this happen often?
    Cheers in advance!

I've strung with 66ultimax a bazillion times at 27-28 lbs, never snapped during stringing. Probably got damaged with an awl or string mover in my opinion.

Personally, I've had some bad experiences with ultimax because it is very slippery. I haven't had trouble stringing it up to 23x25 before.

I use BG66UM to string for a friend @ 27X29 with 10% prestretch.. Have had few issues during the tie off trying to get it as tight as possible.. Where did the string break in your case ?

When I spoke to my coach, he said he was confused why the string was breaking. He said when he strung it with nanogy 98 it broke in the same place it broke again twice (three times in total, once with ultimax and twice with Nanogy). When I had it strung, some grommets needed to be replaced. The reason it kept snapping is because when he tensioned it (28lbs with Nanogy) the frame was cutting it. Thsnks for sll your replies, also, georgsi_uk1 said "with 10% prestretch" how do you measure it as a percentage?

I use a WISE and it has prestretch option which can be expressed in %.

Ok, what does that have to do with how much it is stretched?

Your coach really needs to replace the grommets. The frame should not be cutting into the string ever. He should have noticed at the very beginning before stringing and even more so if it kept snapping in the same spot 3 times.

FYI 66UM tends to snap at around 33 lbs and higher for me. Any lower I have never had it snap.
