from the results of Day 1, most of the best of 5 games ended up with 3-0 with 2 exceptions (3-1).

most of the matches were under 30 mins with 1 exception (31 mins) and sub 20 mins is the norm with 3 matches lasted only 13 mins.

    do we really wanted this?

Oops, sorry you are correct, typo on my part. Would be nice if it was GPG though, cause then it'd be streamed :p

Some interesting scores to say the least. Luke Couture from CAN down 0-2, comes back and wins it in the rubber 11-10.

    Start of day 2:

1 match hits the 50 min mark, which is the longest in the morning session of MS, while the shortest being 16 mins.

This doesn't seem much of a change yet from the 3x21. Average is roughly 20-30 mins which is normal in the early rounds. Will have to see how long finals end up taking.

With 5x11 Lin Dan might lose quickly.

I feel like I'm rewatching the World Cup SF match between Brazil and Germany. You blink and the game is over.

Too bad TMN isn't playing this tournament. Would be interesting how long matches would be since he likes to drag out points at times.

Sayaka Sato vs. compatriot Anna Doi went 59 minutes. If there were a deuce and win by 2, then match times would closely resemble that of the 21 system. I'd say that this slightly cuts matches by a bit, not much (we all know how long inbetween points can take at like say 20-all in a rubber game during finals).

GER shuttlers dominate final day, have representatives in almost all categories except WS and MD title has been assured.

The longest duration so far is 59 mins quarterfinal match, Sayaka Sato v Anna Doi.

This new scoring system definitely has shorter match duration than rally point.

Any thoughts on WS final with Beiwen Zhang? She had a difficult SF match against a Japanese player and might have another touch one in the final. I hope she pulls through! She's a fighter.

And Beiwen comes away with the victory!

I'm pretty sure MS Finals did not take 21 mins going the full 5 games. XD first 3 games were 10-11, 10-11, 11-10, if only the last two games ended that way as well.

Pan Am area will have fierce WS competition going on between Beiwen and Michelle now as they both start compiling gold medals. That's great to see for our region!

Looks like 3 of the 5 Finals went 5 games to decide winner. WD went to 4 games and MD 3 game sweep.

Doubles victory for both Max Schwenger and Carla Nelte as they nailed two titles here. Third title in this year for Zhang Beiwen after Peru International Challenge and US GP Gold.
