The brochures keep going on about the power cushion and how you can drop an egg from a metre high onto them without it breaking. This makes me wonder, who out there has tried this?
I'm gonna wait till I get home and ill tell you the result, my guess is that its gonna break, But who knows!
Here's a suggestion for those of you wanting to test this with their Yonex shoes. How about cutting open a plastic grocery or garbage bag, so that it can be spread out over a large area like wrapping paper. Then line the inside of your shoe with it, but not stuffing it all in the shoe, or else you'd be adding extra absorption/padding for the egg. Just enough so that your precious shoes are protected from egg yolk if the shoes don't live up to their hype. The extra bag plastic can be used to help catch any yolk that splatters out of the shoe. I for one would like to know if the Yonex shoes can live up to their advertising hype. I don't own a pair myself or else I'd try it on my own shoes.
lets get technical here, not all eggs are created equal. So, whatever result brave turtle gets doesn't prove or disprove yonex claim. Also, the ad didnt specified the height of the egg being dropped.(did it said 1m high? i forgot reading that part)
Ha~ that's right, remember that Yonex used "JP" rated eggs with Armortec shells . Devoid of genetic defects, avian flu, blah blah blah~ .
.......as long as there is evidence that an egg will break from dropping into the shoe at the specified height of 1m, it is proven that the Yonex shoes can not cushion every type of egg perfectly. But if most of the time the eggs don't break, where the eggs are sampled uniformly from all types of eggs(large, small, brown, etc), then the cushioning should be pretty good.
I'd like to see an osterich egg dropped on a Yonex shoe, crushing the shoe in the process, and survive without a scratch .
Hehehe, just like before a court trial, juries are hand picked or else the trial won't be non-bias Here are some bedtime reads http://www.afn.org/~poultry/flkman4.htm http://store.blackwell-professional.com/0813828279.html
one dont need to go to the extent of JP eggs an egg from a low-stress farm is usually good enough. Eggs from the supermarket are not good candidate for this test. Factory chicken spit out eggs like bubble gums with thin shell and rough texture.
Alas, I knew him, the brave turtle who tried a Yonex experiment. Don't blame me if I don't have an eulogy for your Yonex shoes, my friend.
Heheheh Hi guys, You should have seen the face of my mom she saw me throw eggs on my shoes. She asked me what I was doing and I replied that it was an experiment for the baddy comunity. The eggs I choose were Canada Version and I used 3 eggs. The first 2 eggs missed the shoe and broke on the floor . The third one land in the shoe and was intact! WoWwWw!! It impressed me... Then I tried to change the shoe just to see if it would work on my everyday shoes (adidas walkign shoes) and guess what? Intact eggs! Yonex is being tricky and I'm happy of my discovery. Can we say that Yonex try to overhype their product? Anyway, I'll be back, gotta clean the floor .
Hahahaha~ BraveTurtle, you rock dude! I 2nd Kwun, we want pictures! I bet the look on your mother's face was priceless~
ROFL, way to go brave_turtle. Here i was trying to be cautious and scientific about it and you go miss bombing your shoe, twice. Hahaha, in the end, it's still a very good experiment. and satisfied all of us equipment crazed nuts.
HaWww Sorry guys, I feel bad not to be able to share the experience with you guys because I don't have a camera. Also I just finish cleaning teh whole house But do you agree that Yonex overhype their product alot? Egg won't brake in any of the shoes.
