    Hello everyone,

I'm new to this forums but I had been playing badminton for a few years using sponsored rackets and did not really have a personal racket which I could use to my liking. But now I wish to purchase one for my personal use.

Can anyone recommend me some of the good models around(Preferably Yonex branded ones)? I have a budget of USD80 and I like those models which provides good smashing capability. Came across the Voltric models for their potential in delivering heavy shots but was not able to decide one.

Hope you guys could take some time off to advise me in this :)

    Thanks in advance! (Y)

Yonex + budget = limited results usually, but you were definitely on the right track with Voltric for Yonex rackets with smashing capabilities, unless Armortec rackets are still available where you are.

Actually since you're in SG, you should be able to get these head-hvy rackets for USD80 (or ~ SGD100):
    (Below SGD100)
    Voltric 03
    Voltric 03 Tour
    Voltric 50
    Voltric Tour 55
    Voltric Tour 88
    (slightly above SGD100)
    Carbonex 21 is ~ SGD100 (slightly head-hvy)
Carbonex 50 is ~ SGD125 (comparable to Voltric 03 in terms of head-hvy)

Really depends on what your playing style and preference.

    Hi all,

Thank you for your kind response.

Currently looking into the Voltric 50 but could not find any reviews about the racket. Anyone could advise me further of that racket?

Hope to be able to decide on one this week

Nowadays, racket reviews tend to focus on high-end models. But that doesnt mean mid-range rackets are not gd. Depends a lot on the users...

I guess the question then, would be, why VT50? Specs are:
Materials: Frame: Graphite, Tri Bumper, Sound Filter, Tungsten, Shaft: H.M. Graphite
    Flex: Stiff.

    Why not VT Tour 88?
Materials: Frame: Graphite + Tungsten, Shaft: Graphite
    Flex: Stiff

H.M. Graphite could mean that it's on the higher end of Yonex's "Stiff" category, bordering on Extra Stiff perhaps. I can't confirm this but High Modulus Graphite seems to imply that.

Yonex sells brand. You are paying for the brand. Try apacs, you can get better racket for same price. Just bought an apacs virtuoso performance for around $80 on promo a few days ago. Really value for money. Also got a shirt, , overgrip, string and stringing service free including shipping costs. There's a thread on apacs virtuoso performance in same section 2-3 thread below. Try reading it :)

Well I went to the Singapore's main Yonex merchandise website www.Sunriseclick.com and sorted the Voltric rackets according to popularity and VT50 seems to be the first above which suits my budget. Did not really bother about the specs

On other hand, I wish to know does a stiffer flex/shaft do more punch in smashes? Or will flexible/medium perform better?

Read it and yea I agree with you its a good racket and good deal you have there :) But unfortunately, I am not able to find Apacs Virtuoso Performance model sold in Singapore. So I guess I have to stick with Yonex. Thank you for your time though :)

No probs;) I'm from Mauritius and we only get low end apacs so that's why I bought mine online from a seller in Malaysia. Seems to be a really good seller. He even gave me advice on string tension. Paid in all $80 including shipping to Mauritius. Bought it last Saturday. I think I'm going to get it this week :) as according to the tracking number it left Malaysia last Friday.

Good luck on your racket search :)
