for those ppl who have excessive number of racket, how many do you actually bring to the gym? i used to bring like 7-8 rackets, until i started to play in a much larger gym with many more strangers, now i am going to cut down on the number of rackets i bring. may be 2-3. i recently lost one of my cab20. not sure if it was because i misplaced it or did someone walked away with one. either one, i think bringing fewer rackets is a better idea.
LOL I put four even though I only use 2... heavy steel racquet for warm up, and then cab20 ms, for play... But lately my technique has been totally off, so I use cab20long to compensate for poor technique, and regain any power I might be losing with the amount of flex from the racquet shaft. And one spare racquet in case someone wants to borrow it. -Kelvin
yeah. i come to simliar conclusion. one less destructable racket for playing with beginner or for plastic birdies, it is the Iso600 for my case. then two other rackets for good/off days. 1 or 2 cab20 and 1 cab22. that's all i am going go bring from now on. the rest stays safely at home.
I bring all of my rackets, but generally I only play with my Cab20 and Cab22. The Karakal is there for backup, while I bring my Carlton Airblade Superlite to test out my stringing techniques and my cracked Slim-10 is there for people that need to borrow a racket to play with (I don't mind if it breaks because I have another one already that warped so I framed it)
Used to bring 6-7 racquets for my discriminating taste. Now down to 5, two sets for feathers and nylon birdies and one for loaner or when paired with newbies.
I usually classify my rackets to several categories: Main Rackets, Training Rackets, and Regular Rackets (can be borrowed from Friends) Main rackets: you know, game rackets that you use Training rackets: it doesn't mean that they are worse than main rackets. What I meant is that, this is the racket(s) you are most familiar with. So, if your shots are off, you can use it to regain your feelings. Also, use this to learn some new techniques. Regular Rackets: rackets that is used to play with strangers or beginners. Also can be borrowed for friends use. I usually bring 2 main, 1 training, and 1 regular rackets with me. Total is 4
I always bring my 2 main rackets - identical SL-70s. These are the only rackets I play with (and no-one else plays with them). I also bring as many spares as I think I will need to lend to other people (up to 4). The spares are old/cheap rackets. So normally I just bring 2. Then again, I don't have an "excessive number of rackets"
i'll bring two for myself if i know i won't be lending any, and just one plus a spare to lend if i know i will end up lending.
Odd as it may seem, I stop carrying racquets in my racquet bag because I have too much other junk. The primary problem is, my racquet bag isn't all that big. After putting my shoes, my change of clothes, a tube of nylons, a tube of feathers and my gigantic (1.4L) water bottle, there just isn't that much space left in the bag anymore. And I'm just too cheap to buy a new bag when the old one is still perfectly functional. For the record, I usually bring 2 to 3 racquets to the gym, each of them housed in their own, individual OEM carry case. -Rick
I only take 2, my Inflight SlimSeries 100 (first choice racquet) and Yonex MP77 (my previous first choice but now backup racquet). Perhaps for a club night I might lob some old ones in incase someone needs to borrow. But in most cases I give the 77 to someone if they need it. Well, to decent players at least.
I usually bring 3. Currently, most sessions are packed during weekends, and I often stay over in my friend's house after late sessions. Therefore, if string snaps, I don't have my machine next by to re-string it. 2 or less seems to be a little bit risky in such cases, as I don't want to play with bare hands if both rackets got broken string.
reply I need at least 3 minimum, because you play with your favorite racket with the best strings. If that breaks you move onto your second favorite, and you're not worried about that breaking too because you have a third. My third racket is always one with indestructible (i.e. thick as hell) strings at a lower tension. I agree with some of you other guys, about having a cheaper racket in case you have to play with complete newbies and are worried about clashes. Played with a beginner last week who took a big chunk out of my new Armotec's paint work.
i carry 2 badminton rackets. one for main use and the other as a backup. i also carry an old squash racket; i use it for warmup or a muscle memory exercise.
I will normaly will bring 3 Racquets in my bag 1) Yonex MP 55 my fav. 2) Protech Max power 990 for my back-up 3) Yonex Cab 12 for training or in case any of my friends want to borrow. Thanks rgds
one cab 21 in it's carry case.. another one permanently in the boot of my car (but now i took it out to lay a new grip on it and is in my aptmt) one cab 23 .. usually i never know where it is.. sometimes it pops up in my car, sometimes in my gym and sometimes at hope.. As long as i have my cab 21s i dont worry
I have 4 in the bags. But if i travel overseas for stints , i bring 3. But if i'm in a country in Hong Kong.. i will usually bring 1 only.
