I was talking to a friend of mine the other day and we started talking about how fast players are able to smash a shuttle. We started comparing trying to return a smash to trying to hit a baseball. A baseball player has about 0.4 seconds to hit a baseball, I was wondering if there was any research or any estimates on the topic for badminton. I understand that it is much more difficult to gauge the time in badminton as there are many more variables, but any info on the topic would be greatly appreciated.

I watched a YouTube video of an analysis of Fu Hai Feng's smash. They were using some hitech equipment. It said a normal smash is 0.5secs. I honestly can't remember what it was for Fu. Possibly 0.2sec
