Hello my name is Daryl i have not been playing for the last two years due to a knee surgery. I have been playing for about 3-4 months now, after my nights of playing badminton. My ankles are usually very sore and stiff. I was just wondering is this due to my body weight? or is it due to over compensation on shock absorbing with my ankles, rather than my knee? If anyone has experienced this or has anything similar i would love to hear how to deal with it or what i should be doing possibly training to long? usually a night of badminton is about 4-6 hours.
body weight, height? shoes, floor type? any other sports or rehab over the past 2 yrs, or you just started rehab/sports activies the past 4 months?
Do provide us info about your shoes, the age of it and perhaps model brand. Then it will also be good that you should video youeself
sorry body weight roughly 210-215 pounds 5"6 shoes kumpoo model i think are SHBF1NLTD. As for floor, it seems just that green matt thing rolled out over concrete. Rehab and sports played prior to this where rehab yes, and acro yoga. The shoe are fairly new, wide since i have wide feet, but im also flat footed. im a bit embarrassed about video myself cause im not really that advanced at badminton.
One problem with too thick socks is that then the shoe becomes too tight even with when laces are loosened. One way is to get good technical sport socks, that are specially designed to be thick cushiony at the bottom, but thin on top, so that your feet can still fit normally into the shoe.
Thank you all for your input im just trying to be a better player no where am i ever going to be at a competitive level but i do strive to improve each time i play.
Another thing is to be light on your feet, ie don't use your heels so much. Badminton footwork is about being agile and that means using the front balls of your feet ie forefeet.
well first off my foot is completely red, the veigns in the top of my foot begin to protrude i feel a throbbing pulse through the top of my foot as well, and the bottoms are a bit tender as are the sides to touch but the pain just feels like my feet are heavy or have been dangling over the edge of something but its not related to circulation cause the shoes are not to tight.
I do recommend ankle and knee braces if you can. I've also got a pair of shbf1ltd but they are Yonex branded Anyway these shoes will give me cramps in my foot and hurt my shins. Try a different pair of shoes and see if that helps. Try and get a pair of Asics gel rocket 6. Half the price and very very comfy. I don't get any foot cramps or shin splints anymore and I suspect it may help with your ankles.
Apparently kumpoo are some of the widest shoes made for badminton. Also my ankles seem to be swollen. But the swelling never goes away.
I'm 210lbs as well so my feet has as much pressure as yours to deal with, but I would recommend trying another pair of shoes.
