    imagine a guy with a fu haifeng smash with a vertical of 40+ inches? would that drastically change the game of badminton?

    Don't think so, if it's about the highest jumps and hardest smashes, than the opponent won't give you lifts and clears, and just drive, push and blocks instead, thus negating your advantage.

    true. But it would negate blocking too far back, which is common for Korean doubles.
