Question who can beat lin dan ?

who do you think is lin dan`s biggest opponent for the Olympic gold medal?
Gade, Wong Choong Hann, Roslin , Sony , Taufik or will his Chinese team-mates deny him?

HAwWW hard to say, all top 5 can actually win the gold medal but I'll say Gade.

No doubt Gade, but it depends on the stamina if Gade can hold up his tempo i would say Gade. But I would say the biggest favourites for Athen is Lin Dan, Peter Gade and Wong Choong Hann.

I think Lin Dan's winning streak will end very fast, Everybody will be looking for his weakness.

I cant see any, He's tall, powerful, good in defense, good in driving, smart, but I think prone to errors.Very much like Yang Yang.

but sad to say I think someone has spotted a possible problem.

he's a slow starter, like in sprints some people are quick off the blocks but tail off at the end whilst others accelerate at the end.(I think, sports science people can give a better idea).

Lee Chong Wei beat him very quickly in KL in 1st set, and was leading 14-10 in 2nd but couln't finish. Wong Choon Han all but beat him in China Open but was distracted. Lee Hyun Il gave him a drubbing in German Open and in the past Taufik has laways beaten him.

I think he can still stay ahead by knowing his own weakness, but any player whio is fast , powerful, good in defence, and who can quickly build up points quickly over 2 sets should be able to succeed soon.

i think a bit difficult though as he is quite complete in all departments and probably getting smarter.

all this is of course theory.

actually, imo, i dun think lin dan's a slow starter... i would think he's also human and prone to understimating his opponents like bao which would explain the loss of quite a few of his first sets during the thomas cup qualis... as for gade, perhaps he wuz troubled in the first or perhaps lin just wanted to tire him out... we wun know now will we... but based on current records, if gade could continue to win the first set (either by skill or by default of lin's tactics against him... whatever...) and somehow push thru the second, he would be the most likely one to topple lin...

personally i don't think we should be looking at the data from too far away... ie past year...cos it wun give u a good picture of the situation cos he only started to peak near the end.. so even if lcw managed to defeat him in kl, it would not mean much now considering he's improved his game play by leaps and bounds...

however, i do agree however with the fact that wch could have defeated him during china open and that may be a sign that wch may be THE ONE... but sadly he seems quite off form for now... and shows no signs of recovery just like taufiq...

so honestly, i'd say, based on the looks of things now, that gade stands the greatest chance of defeating super dan but i reckon that chance is pretty slim anyway...

anyway hope ronald gets to meet lin in the finals tmr... will be rooting for him against all odds... haha...

Lin Dan is a fast-starter i think. But i agree with Bbn. i don't think that he would last very long as worl'd no.1. sure he's fast and has the advantage of young age. but you can see the lack of skill/experience in his dropshots (somtimes) and the hurry in his smashes.

nevertheless, i believe for the olympic games, Lin Dan will still be in top form and will no doubt be in the finals.

Question How come Lin Dan lately is thrashing Kuncoro when last year, Kuncoro can beat him?

2 Sep 2003 PROTON EON MALAYSIA OPEN 2003
1/32 Lost to KUNCORO Sony Dwi (INA) 11/15, 7/15

How come Lin Dan can thrash Kuncoro so easily lately 15-1?????
Lin Dan seems to win him in ridiculously low scores compared to other players.

last September only, Kuncoro can beat him quite easily!!

Anyway, Kuncoro is a FAST, powerful player with sharp smashes.
He can beat Chen Hong consistently and other players like Wong Choon Hann.
Is he on the decline? If Lin Dan was to Kuncoro like Chen Hong is to Susilo, it will be more easily understood.

Can anyone who watch some of Kuncoro's matches against Lin Dan please
    comment?

taufik can beat him without a doubt. when he's up for it he can beat anyone in the world. even chen hong had this god-like status now attributed to super dan but he was still afraid of taufik. i bet superdan will be scared of him too. in pure talent and smartness, taufik is the absolute best in the world. he just needs to get his attitude and physical condition right.

At the start of the year I believed that Sony was most likely to challenge Lin Dan`s supremacy however when I watched him at the all -england(got his autograph) against shon it was obvious to me that he was struggling with his stamina if he had not won in 2 sets I was sure shon would have won in 3 ,therefore it was no surprise to me that he lost to lin dan next - having missed the korean open and reportedly skipping the abc it would appear that he is struggling to regain his excellent form of last year
