The retired Indonesian said Malaysia's Lee probably took the banned anti-inflammatory dexamethasone by mistake, but that he should still have been aware of what was going into his body. "I just can't believe it until now. I'm not sure that he did it in purpose. Maybe there was a mistake when he was still receiving medication for his injury," Taufik said, according to the Jakarta Globe. "A world-class player like Chong Wei should have known what he consumed, what went into his body. And BAM (Badminton Association of Malaysia) is a professional body that carefully looks after its players." Lee, 32, is temporarily barred from competition after testing positive during the world championships. He could face an eventual suspension of up to two years. "Athletes must be aware of many things, not only their daily training. They should know what they eat, what they drink," said Hidayat, who quit the sport last year. "They should know everything that's going into their bodies because athletes have only two real enemies: themselves and doping. "Once athletes take dope, there goes their name and achievements. Their years of hard work will vanish. Just look at what happened to Lance Armstrong." He added: "This case is a disgrace to world badminton. It's just too bad if it's true." - AFP/al
I'm surprised TH made those remarks given we don't have the full facts about the case. Yes he has been found guilty of having a banned substance in his body but I think it is wrong, particularly for his peers to imply that this was perhaps intentional and for the purposes of performance enhancement. I personally take remarks like that more as a discredit to TH than to LCW. I don't know LCW, neither would I say I'm a fan of his, but without knowing the facts and both sides of the story, it seems very wrong to crucify or make an example of someone - who could actually be a victim.

as i was reading the article, i only thought, hey, maybe he meant good. meaning, he is suggesting to player that they should be careful with their diet and supplements and treatment. until i read the last sentence. i still hope he has good intention but it is lost in translation. coz having been in both sides of the journalistic process, i can see the writing and interpretation, and sometimes the bias and agenda of the journalists can really skew reality.
But if he is found guilty it will disgrace world badminton, no question about it. Same if the number one in any sport was banned for doping. Everything else is just a warning to players. He is just being honest not disrespectful. He is not saying LCW is a disgrace.
hahahaha Razif doesn't know what he is talking about. Dexamethasone is a corticosteroid commonly used for allergies and other immunity problems. What's the need to hire a doctor? he can just buy it using a recipe from any doctor. And Corticosteroid only looks good initially, but then the effects will vanish unless you take a bigger dosage. It affects your bone mass, suppress your immune system, and many more that is damaging. Maybe it was from the stem cell treatment, as doctors usually use drugs that suppress the immune system so it doesn't reject the stem cells planted. should've wrote to BWF first.
Somehow I just think LCW did it for the sake of the country (??? - strong accusation , i know)..but with malaysia's pathetic current players and LCW usually being the only hope to win anything , I just think it is not impossible if it is true. Hmmm I'm from Malaysia and sadly I know how corrupted my country can be... Sob sob...
