Just sounds like he was making a comment about the lack of female players in these countries, that is why they have no teams in the games which obviously need female participants. OK I know I'm a twit but can anyone tell me how Ants came by this info? I don't know the qualification criteria for the Olympics. Mainly interested in the UK team and who they are.
Indeed I was inferring to the fact they have no world class womens players in Indonesia/Malaysia. (if you ignore the brackets, which you should as they are only for guidance.) Quoting me in that sense is like when I say "Maybe I should hit him, but I like him" , then quoting me and saying I said "I should hit him" !! How ever I understand the ambiguity of the setence and apologise to anyone offended. Maybe I should have said "this highlights Indonesia and malaysias' weaknesses in that they have no world class womens players, so appear further down the list" (*offers hand to shake wl172 + hyong hand*)

No, you didn't but why mention 10 million women in Malaysia when James was clearly talking about Olympics ranking in badminton? Given the context, I doubt anybody should be offended by his statement.

Agree with what you say about Malaysian women badminton players, but you should be careful how you phrase your words. I do hope they buck up though. Will shake your hand.
I was not offended in the first place. In fact, I intended it to be a good-natured jest. Of course I know the context. Guess should have put a smiley there. Since james is extending his hand, it would be awfully rude for me not to shake it. So, there you go ... (shakes hand, digitally)
Actually, the weakness of the Indonesian women's squad puzzles me. Just a decade ago, they would have easily figured in the Uber Cup semifinals. Cannot blame it on exodus of players as well, as Mia is the only notable player of Indonesian origin. Maybe it's the sociopolitical situation there. As for Malaysia, from my point of view here in Malaysia, girls are simply not interested in sports. There are a few great women individuals (like Nicol David in squash for instance, or in bowling - is that a sport?? ) but by and large, the sports scene is dominated by men. Badminton courts nationwide - the few there are - are usually filled with men. I guess the women are just muscled out, so those few who are keen and with potential got snuffed out early. But now with the existence of the sports school (for ages 13 and above I think), we already see potential at an early age which we have not seen before. So, maybe there's hope.
I don't find anything offensive.. i do agree that we have many womens in Msia.. but we don't have so many top class badminton players. Most womens in Msia is too career minded. And not many parents would want their daughters to be too focus on sports. But i think since nowadays our badminton gals are making some news , things might change.
