I'm using a pair of fairly generic court shoes with a hex pattern on the bottom, and there isn't much visible wear on said pattern. The sole is quite in tact and doesn't look particularly warn. However, I'm slipping a lot. Tonight I noticed I wasn't quite getting enough movement in and was failing to meet shots, so I started playing more on my toes (as you seen people doing in videos). I promptly slipped. The material feels quite normal. I'm wondering when you find your grip going, and if this is my footwork, or the shoes that are at fault.
It might be your shoes. But if the floor is dusty, then you'd slip even wearing golf cleats. If the floor isn't dusty, then try washing the soles of your shoes with soap and water and see what happens next session. If still no better, then it's time for new shoes. And of course, it's always worthwhile working on footwork (... or so I've heard)
I'll try washing them off for tomorrow then. My footwork should be alright, I used to do other exercises that required you to be on your toes/balls of your feet a lot. Thanks!
Shoes I find it could be the shoes. For e.g. last night, I noticed my friend was sliding around and I wasn't. He was wearing his newer pair of Li Ning (high end) shoes and I was wearing my older pair of Yonex SHB-01mx. He was complaining the floor was slippery and it was a little but my shoes traction was very good.
Yeah after washing my shoes, I still found myself unable to push off on my left foot. It's no good for singles if I can't generate the force to move myself cross court. I actually looked at the SHB-01m shoes in the store today, but they only had them two sizes up. Ended up buying Yonex SHB SC2EX.
The SHB-01mx shoes are tight though. Very "body hugging". I actually bought a size bigger but I'm sure I can get away with 2 sizes up.
I found this method on Youtube working very well with my pair of shoes. I almost went to buy a new pair because they lose traction and wasted my money. My shoes are as good as new now. very happy.
