i notice a lot of my friends use rubber "cushion aire" tennis overgrips on their badminton racquets....im wondering how this affects ur playing and what is the diff between tennis grips and badminton grips?
I am not wrong, Tennis grips are longer than Badminton grips (since people use two hands to hold the handle in Tennis), and that is actually a plus because it's easier for the grip work. Material wise, I don't see much difference.
I have always thought that the tennis/badminton/squash overgrips are all the same. Is that cushion aire grip a replacement grip instead of an overgrip? -Rick
The tennis "cusion air" overgrip is both wider and longer than the badminton one, I use the tennis because I feel the tennis one being wider is more suitable for me, others may like the narrower badminton version but because it's narrower you have to wind it round your racket an extra couple of times to get to the top of the handle. The tennis one is also just a bit longer, I noticed this after running out of length in the badminotn version when Carlton brought out rackets with much longer handles for the first time years ago and have never changed back.
I'm using a Yonex Ultimum Ti replacement grip for all my yonex racquets. I've been using overgrips before & it has been an expensive process having to replace them every often. I stripped of the original grips on the racquets and replaced them with the Ultimum, without using anymore overgrips on it. For me the thickness of the ultimum is already alright, the thickness is like having already 2 grips. It has a good rubbery sticky feeling, vents the sweat out of your hands well & in terms of its durability I'd rate it a 10/10. Remember, even the commonly used Yonex Super Grap (A440) is a universal over grip for tennis, racket ball and badminton.
A note to this There are two types of A440, one is regular length and one is long. It says at the front of the pack, "Long", and you can pretty much use it for any rackets.
Then, yours is the long one. I have some here is the regular length (different packaging also, but it's still number as A440)
There is about $0.30 USD price difference per pack; Pretty much no difference (But the regular version of A440 is a little thicker, I would say, 20% thicker)
i play both tennis and badminton and the tennis grips work just fine on for badminton, doesnt work the other way though haha duh! was thinking of putting leather grips on for badminton for ultimate feel / control except they rip your hands apart (i know from exp.)
I bought some tennis grips awhile back to try them out... from my experience... Gamma Supreme Overgrip - $3.00 about one dollar cheaper than Yonex and very similar in feel. I am thinking of switching to this one in the long run... but feel that Yonex still has a better grip. Tecnifibre Player's Wrap Overgrip - $3.00 Stay away... may be good for tennis coz of the use of both hands but really lacks the grip.. I tried one and it keeps on slipping... I had to wipe my hands often during the game.. not absorbent at all... not worth the saving... and i want to add that it is extremely short... have no clue as to why.. i thought that tennis grips should be longer...? some pictures from tenniswarehouse.com as a reference for you guys who might to shopping for tennis grips.. calvin

I bought these grips from tenniswarehouse.com because I was buying a bag from them. Shipping was fixed at 6.00 so it would not be very economical to just buy grips. Unless you buy like 100 ... when i bought my bag i tought i would throw in a few diff grips to test them out... I can get yonex at my local club for 4.50... calvin
My local club charges $5 for SuperGrap. Therefore, if I buy 3 packs, the shipping is covered. Actually, I teamed up with several others, and the total amount should be in 15-20. Therefore, a good buy in large order.
I guess if some of my friends wants to have a group buy then I would definately do it through tenniswarehouse.com 3.00 is the cheapest I could find anywhere... maybe i will in the near future.. when the tennis grips run out.. calvin
